This is a good summary of medieval times, but not a detailed account. Good for those who just want an overview. However the author's constant reference back to other parts of the book (sometimes the previous page) are so frequent that it disrupts the flow. It's not a novel, but is a definite distraction. If I want to find out where he spoke of it before I can refer to the index or contents page. This should be edited out. It occurs nearly every page, sometimes in the same paragraph. Too much.
