About the Author

Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj is an internationally-recognized spiritual Master of meditation on the inner light and sound. He is president of the Human Unity Conference and head of Science of Spirituality, a non-profit, non-denominational organization with centers in forty countries that provides a forum for people to learn meditation. He is a best-selling author whose many books, translated into fifty languages, include Inner and Outer Peace through Meditation, Empowering Your Soul through Meditation, and Spark of the Divine. He also has many CDs, DVDs, and hundreds of articles published in magazines, newspapers, and journals and has appeared on television, radio, and Internet broadcasts worldwide.

He received a B. Tech Degree in Electrical Engineering from I.I.T. (Indian Institute of Technology), Madras, India, in 1967; received an M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from I.I.T (Illinois Institute of Technology), Chicago, Illinois, in 1970; and was awarded a Special I.I.T. Fellowship. He had a successful twenty-year career in engineering, communications, and technology, including one of the world's leading communication companies. His accomplishments have been groundbreaking, laying the foundation for many technological innovations that have become part of standard use around the world today. For his accomplishments in the fields of peace and spirituality, he received a Distinguished Leadership Award from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Illinois.

His work in the field of science, computers, and communication has given him the ability to have a scientific approach to spirituality. He makes the science of spirituality and the practice of meditation easy for people to understand and practice for themselves. He holds meditation seminars, gives public lectures, and hosts international conferences on Human Integration and Global Mysticism, presenting his powerful, yet simple meditation on the inner light and sound to millions throughout North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Oceania. He has also presented the benefits of meditation to medical practitioners throughout the world including the National Institute of Health, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and universities such as Harvard University, University of California, Berkeley, I.I.T Madras (Chennai), I.I.T. Delhi, I.I.T. Bombay (Mumbai), and chapters of Hospice. Many doctors have learned the meditation technique from him and use this regularly with their patients.

This was a great book. I recently read it and was astounded by all of the medical science that's been conducted supporting meditation. I teach at the post graduate level and would recommend this book to both my students and collegues as a look into how meditation can lead to higher levels of concentration, a decreased stress response, and overall sense of well being and balance. I look forward to reading other books by Rajinder Singh to learn more.

This book was a wonderful read. As a physician who has practiced meditation for years and believes in it's health benefits, I appreciated reading the discussion of meditation from multiple practitioners with different insight and leading health experts from across the board. I especially enjoyed Rajinder Singh's easy to follow meditation guidelines at the end of the book and found them simple to encompass into my meditation technique. Overall a great book, and I highly recommend reading this to both physicians and anyone interested in the scientific proof behind meditation's healing properties.

Experts and professionals in their respective field detail the scientific studies and personal experience for the effectiveness of meditative techniques. The commentary and references in this book show that every aspect of the whole person – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual – improves after consistent meditation practice. It is heartening to know that there is a safe and effective technique to counter the stresses of modern life. It is reassuring to know that those people who meditate will be better prepared to solve the problems of the world, and it is wonderful to know that there is a master teacher of meditation available to us all in the form of Sant Rajinder Singh Maharaj.
