Meditation has been valued in the East for centuries as beneficial to physical, mental, and spiritual health. Now, Western medicine, through research-based studies performed in medical schools, universities, hospitals, and research labs, also is recognizing the efficacy of meditation for improving wellness.
This groundbreaking book offers proven benefits of meditation for reducing stress-related ailments, such as cancer, stroke, heart, breathing, digestive, and circulatory problems, hypertension, migraines, depression, anxiety, and addictions; improving brain function and performance; managing pain; and achieving balance. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, in his keynote article, provides clear and compelling support for the value of meditation for the health of the spirit, upon which the health of the body and mind are based. Noted medical doctors, cancer researchers, psychiatrists, psychologists, chiropractors, brain researchers, neuroscientists, and those involved in alternative medicine have contributed articles rich in evidence supporting meditation as a complementary treatment modality. Meditation as Medication for the Soul is a must-read book for anyone seeking optimum health.

Praise for Sant Rajinder Singh's books
"Sant Rajinder Singh Ji explains how peace can be created through meditation and inner reflection. There will be no lasting peace unless individual human beings have some sense of inner peace. To create inner peace it is necessary to calm the mind, hence the importance of meditation. I greatly appreciate Sant Rajinder Singh Ji's contribution here to the goal of peace that we are all working towards. May readers of this book find peace within themselves through meditation and so foster a greater sense of peace throughout the world."

"A powerful, deep, clearly written book about practical spirituality that helps us let go of the self-made blocks that interfere with the awareness that we are one with God and each other, that there is no separation, and that our soul is present and fully alive forever."
Gerald G. Jampolsky, M.D., Author
"Firmly rooted in traditional wisdom, the author faces contemporary questions and challenges squarely and in a non-sectarian way....to bring the seed of peace within us to fruition in daily life and the world we live in."

Educator, Recording Artist, and Musician, Steven Halpern
"Meditation empowers us in two spiritual arenas. First, it leads us to inner peace and fulfillment...Second, meditation allows us to use our talents and skills to make the world a better place to live. Rajinder Singh elaborates on these ideas beautifully. He says that by mastering meditation, we not only attain personal fulfillment, we become an instrument for bringing peace and joy to those around us."
Mary Nurrie Stearns, Editor, Personal Transformation
"...Rajinder Singh expounds his theory that true peace and happiness can only come from within: the skill lies in learning how to tap into them."

This was a great book. I recently read it and was astounded by all of the medical science that's been conducted supporting meditation. I teach at the post graduate level and would recommend this book to both my students and collegues as a look into how meditation can lead to higher levels of concentration, a decreased stress response, and overall sense of well being and balance. I look forward to reading other books by Rajinder Singh to learn more.
This book was a wonderful read. As a physician who has practiced meditation for years and believes in it's health benefits, I appreciated reading the discussion of meditation from multiple practitioners with different insight and leading health experts from across the board. I especially enjoyed Rajinder Singh's easy to follow meditation guidelines at the end of the book and found them simple to encompass into my meditation technique. Overall a great book, and I highly recommend reading this to both physicians and anyone interested in the scientific proof behind meditation's healing properties.
Review for “Meditation as Medication for the Soul” By Joel Shepperd, MD The new book “Meditation as Medication for the Soul” presents convincing evidence for the medical benefits of meditation. Experts and professionals in their respective field detail the scientific studies and personal experience for the effectiveness of meditative techniques. The commentary and references in this book show that every aspect of the whole person – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual – improves after consistent meditation practice. It is heartening to know that there is a safe and effective technique to counter the stresses of modern life. It is reassuring to know that those people who meditate will be better prepared to solve the problems of the world, and it is wonderful to know that there is a master teacher of meditation available to us all in the form of Sant Rajinder Singh Maharaj.
