There's no denying the fact that Johannes Linstead is a superb guitarist with excellent dexterity. And on the basis of "Motika," he's also an accomplished pianist with a feel for Cuban rhythm. Add to that the taste to surround himself with players of a similar caliber, especially violinist Vasyl Popadiouk, who shines on the opener "Andalucia," and the technical quality of Linstead's fifth CD is assured. There's certainly a warm, lush feel to the disc, with guitar front and center, exactly as it should be.

There a a passion you can feel when you hear anything Johannes Linstead brings out. Straight from the heart and into yours. This virtuoso continually nails it. Mediterranea is just one more of his ongoing beautiful compilations.
I bought this CD after listening the samples at Barnes and Noble book store. I have not stop playing it for the past two weeks. Every song is different. The recording, skill, arrangement, fidelity, everything are superbly done. This CD becomes one of my favorite CDs in no time. I highly recommend this CD.
This is a fantastic album for fans of Spanish guitar music. It also blends in other sounds, rhythms, and instruments from the Mediterranean - even a little Cuban influence. Johannes Linstead truly has a gift for melody, like a Mozart or Beethoven. Sheer genius!
