I could not put this book down. Every chance I got, I was reading it. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, and most of all I love the love story that comes out of it. It's so moving and shows how people can change and really grow as an individual.

Meet Me in the Dark by J.A. Huss 5 stars I've been so ready to finally read Merc's story, and I wasn't disappointed at all! This exceeded all of my hopes and expectations for what his story would be. It was obvious before reading this that his story would be dark and twisted, but this blew my mind! Merc is twisted in so many ways, and the ways that his genius mind processes how to handle situations also shows that he's not used to letting himself get close to people or letting them matter to him, with a very small exception of people. Sydney had had her mind warped from the time she was little, and clearly had a seriously strong survival instinct to live through every thing she had endured. The connection she felt with Merc was the one thing she leaned on to pull her through over the years. Merc and Sydney together, you can practically "feel" the way they are oddly drawn to each other, despite the part that makes no sense that they should feel that way. These two are so incredibly twisted, in what they experience, the things they put each other through, and how they cope with each other. This book was one mind twist after another, and I was so completely sucked into the book that I only put it down when I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer and fell asleep with my tablet in my hand. This story wrapped around in circles and knots, and then unraveled bit by bit connecting dots, and slowly giving out answers to every question. This was a dark story, but with some beauty within that left hope for the ending, it was wrapped up in such a perfect way. I loved it, and JA Huss's brilliant mind masterfully wove this story around all my senses and made me love Merc and Sydney.

Just when I think I've read the best book by JA Huss, she does it again...and somehow better!!! What a book. I had to read this book in chunks instead of my regular right through as it was so deep and I had to process it! Merc is hot...but Merc is also willing to anything to get the information he needs from Sydney. Keep in mind this is a DARK suspense book and it's JA Huss writing so some parts are well, dark so be prepared. So I didn't like Merc through a lot of the book. Sydney is caught up in this and has been from birth, so she's never had a choice. When she first met Merc at 16, she was hoping he was going to save her. But he didn't and she endured eight more years of a place none of us want to go. In her mind, it was Merc that made her go on as she lived with a sadist who was continuing her training. When Merc kidnaps Sydney, she appears weak and submissive but then she can be strong, mean and kick his @$$! JA Huss is one of my top three favorite authors and I can't wait to see what she has in store next!!!

I received an advance review of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, and before receiving the book, J.A. warned those of us that received it that it was very dark and that if we were not prepared for that, then not to read the book.  She was right.  The book is very dark, so I’ll pass that same warning along to readers.  However, if you take that warning to heart, you will miss some of the most wonderful tears in your eyes, heart in your throat, excruciatingly heart stopping moments that will stay with you for a long time to come... and that my friend, makes the journey through the darkness completely worthwhile.   No one, and I mean no one can spin a story and draw you into it like J.A. Huss.  Her characters are so real and multi-faceted.  As in real life, no character is all bad or all good, and this author has a true talent for exploring all sides of her characters, allowing the reader to connect with the character on a much deeper level.   Nowhere is that more evident than in this book where both of the main characters are struggling with who and what they are.   As different as these characters undoubtedly are from the typical reader, you still can’t help but relate to these characters in one way or another and to feel connected to them, so please don’t let the subject matter or the darkness of the book scare you away.  If you hang in there and give this book the full read it deserves, you will soooo not be disappointed.

Wow, just wow. It always amazes me how JA Huss makes you love the most unlovable characters. This story is intense and crazy but I loved it. Definitely worth reading
