'Melusine is a splendid mystery wriiten by a talented writer named Lynne Reid Banks. In the book, a teenage boy becomes embroiled in the mysterious live of a farm girl while on vacation in the south of France. This interesting book will make you believe you're actually in the mysterious place in the story. 'Melusine is a triunph of literary skill and moral complexity. While vacationing in France with his family, a teenage boy named Roger becomes intrigued by Melusine, a mysterious girl. Melusine is the daughter of the owner of the chateau where Roger and his family are staying. Everything seems strange in the old chateau, the place is unkept, the owner is ill-tempered,and Melusine seems deeply trobled. Additionally, there are the strange slithery noises Roger hears at night in his small room. When mysterious events start to happen, Roger begin to fear that Melusine is in grave danger. Truely, Roger feels thathe must help herand that means getting to the bottom of the dark mystery of Chateau de Bois-Serpe immediately. Roger is determined to discover what is going on. He knows the answer lies in the chateau's forbidden tower since Melusine refused to show him on his tour of the chateau. As a result, Roger uncovers a mystery that is full of passion and violence, but he is also very concered that the answer may destroy Melusine's secretive life. As you read the book 'Melusine,' you feel like you are fully experiencing the events in the story. When Lynne Reid Banks tells the story in so much descriptive detail, you feel like you are in France right along Roger's side. In fact, when he heard a strange rustle in his room, you feel very frightened. Likewise, when his twin sisters try comforting him in 'Woddy,' the langugage of their childhood, you calmed down. Also, when he met the Goat Girl called Melusine, she taught him how to milk, and a friendship was formed. Additionally, when his sister fell into the canal water, Melusine jumped into the water and rescued her yet came out of the water completely dry. All in all,the story is so amazing and full of details;you experience the entire story as if you were right along Roger and his family. Lynn Reid Banks is a brilliant writer. Roger and his family discovered that their vacation in France was not quite what they anticipated, and it turned into an adventure of a lifetime. While I read the book,I felt like I was Roger himself while he solved a dark, puzzling mystery. When you are looking for a mystery full of mythology and strange events, you will find it diificult to put down this magnificent book, 'Melusine.'
