Memoir of a Hospice Volunteer by Jo McNulty

Jo McNulty has spent more than ten years as a hospice volunteer. In keeping vigil with end-of-life patients, she began to understand the meaning and need for compassion for all people. Her own spirituality took a new turn toward a mature growth, and this is the story of that experience as well as some others.

About the Author

Graduating in 1996 from Cambridge College with a Master’s in Education, I wanted to teach creative writing as a therapy. Fortunately, my academic pursuits changed when my first grandchild was born and I was asked to be part of her care. Over the next several years, seven more grandchildren would be added to fill in the gaps of my life. When those little ones went off to school, another wonderful opportunity would present itself: That of a hospice volunteer. These were truly the best of times.
