Memoirs of a Surgeon's Wife: I'm Throwing Your Damn Pager Into the Ocean

Megan Sharma is a surgeon's wife. During her husband's seven years of post-medical school training, while he tackled the dirty work of putting broken faces back together and painstakingly peeling cancer from his patients' jugular veins, she became his sugar mama and helped pave his path to glory.
Using humor, reflection, keen observation, and journalistic research, "Memoirs of a Surgeon’s Wife: I’m Throwing Your Damn Pager into the Ocean" peels back the surgical mask to reveal the human being underneath. From the 10 commandments for pleasing superiors to the conundrum of the 80-hour workweek to wearing mismatched shoes to work, Sharma delves into the world of modern medicine as experienced by physician trainees and their loved ones.
Sharma began writing "Memoirs of a Surgeon's Wife" in October 2013, while her husband was near the finish line of his grueling six-year surgical residency program. The two met in December 2008, barely a few months into his residency. At the time, Sharma had no personal connection to the field of medicine and had no idea what an otolaryngologist was. She quickly learned the hazards of dating a doctor: a wildly unpredictable schedule, constant pager interruptions, little to no free time, and an incessant pile of dirty scrubs taking up precious real estate on the bathroom floor.
Alas, a soul mate is a soul mate, and the pair learned to navigate both surgical training and their relationship as Dr. Sharma went from date to boyfriend to fiancé to husband and father.
When medicine meets holy matrimony, anything can happen…

About the Author

Megan Sharma is an author and incurable writer, mom, physician spouse, and travel fiend. In 2015, the same year she moved cross-country (again!) and became a mother, Megan traded her 9:00 to 5:00 for calling the shots in her own writing career.

Megan is the author of “Memoirs of a Surgeon’s Wife: I’m Throwing Your Damn Pager into the Ocean,” a nonfiction book on love and modern medicine, as well as “100 of Your Toughest Business Emails: Solved,” which focuses on business email etiquette.

When she isn’t writing, Megan enjoys globetrotting with her family, cooking and eating delicious food, and yelling at pundits on CNN. Visit www.megansharma.com for more on Megan’s books, blog, and freebies for email subscribers.
