Overview

Physical therapist Dana VanAlstyne's dreams of a family were lost in the dust of a motocross racecourse. Although she's filled her life with her work and church activities, it hasn't filled the empty space inside her. Nor has it eased the heartache of being abandoned by a man who wasn't ready for a wife and children. Now her dream is to open her own private practice. All she needs is the capital to make that happen.

Anton, "Mac," Macachek may be the top professional motocross racer in the country but he still has one race that matters more to him: winning a championship at Unadilla Raceway and showing the hometown folks the bad boy did amount to something. But when a horrific accident sidelines those plans, he makes a deal with the women he once loved with all his heart. A woman who abandoned him. If Dana will get him back in racing shape, he'll fund her new practice. Then an even more dangerous risk is revealed. If Mac races again, he could die.

Does Dana have enough faith to risk her heart again? She loved Mac once, but feared he loved motocross racing more than he loved her. If she helps him mend his broken body, will it also mend her broken heart? Or will it all be lost again in the dust and danger of a motocross racetrack?

TEAM MACACHEK: Meet the strong women and fearless men of the motocross circuit.

About the Author

Jean C. Gordon's writing is a natural extension of her love of reading. From that day in first grade when she realized t-h-e was the word "the," she's been reading everything she can put her hands on. A former financial planner, Jean is as at home writing retirement- and investment-planning advice as she is writing romance novels, but finds novels a lot more fun.

She and her college-sweetheart husband tried the city life in Los Angeles, but quickly returned home to their native Upstate New York. They share a 170-year-old farmhouse just south of Albany, NY, with their daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren, and a menagerie of pets. Their son lives nearby. While Jean creates stories, her family grows organic fruits and vegetables and tends the livestock de jour.

Although her writing and family don't leave her a lot of spare time, Jean likes to give back when she can. She and her husband team-taught a seventh-and-eighth-grade Sunday school class for several years and currently serve on her church's Evangelism Committee. She also shares her love of books with others by volunteering at the church's Book Nook.

Dana, a physical therapist, receives the phone call we all dread - the one from the police about an injured family member. Only the call was about Mac, the motocross racer Dana believes she divorced several years ago. Mac was injured and wants Dana as his physical therapist so he can recover and race in one last race at his home track, Unadilla. Dana doesn't want to but Mac is persistent. The two finally discuss their past and their future. Can they get passed all the hurt and move on? I enjoyed and recommend this book. It is a sweet romance. I received a free copy of this e-book. All opinions are my own.

"Dana VanAlstyne wasn't the only physical therapist who could get him in shape for the race... She was just the only one he wanted." Dana has been keeping her life chock-full of physical therapy work and church activities ever since she and Mac split up. And Mac has been rising in fame and fortune as a champion motocross racer, but a medical condition has him privately facing what could be a premature end to his career. He's looking to have one more chance on the track, and one more chance with Dana, in Mending the Motocross Champion by author Jean C. Gordon. This is a novel that thrives on its backstory, but it's not the kind of backstory that's explained all at once. It unfolds at the pace of the present love story, gradually adding significance to Dana's and Mac's thoughts and actions. Their layered history makes their relationship all the more interesting. There were some moments past the halfway mark where it felt to me like the story was coasting, though not exactly lagging. But ultimately, the backstory (which leads to a precious and crucial revelation at the end) helped to make up my favorite scene of the novel. Other fans of Christian romance with second chances should enjoy this opening of the Team Macachek series. ______________ I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Jean C. Gordon brings the first installment in her new series, Team Macachek. It's a wonderful book that introduces motocross racing to her fans. This is an endearing story about second chances, finding trust and love interlaced with some humor. Dana and Mac fell in love as young teenagers and as soon as she turns 18 they elope. After a few years Dana returns home and files for divorce. Even through the distance and time Dana's heart still belongs to Mac so when the police called to inform her he had been in an accident she rushes to the hospital. Mac's injuries requires an extended rehab and he thinks Dana would make the perfect therapist and against better judgement she agrees. This sweet story brings engaging characters, romantic tension, sweet plot plus some twists and turns. This is a clean, feel good romance. I would recommend this to anyone. I received this book from the author for a honest opinion. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
