Merry Myrrh, the Christmas Bat intrigued me with its title. I’ve read a lot of Christmas animal stories, but nary a one featured a bat and I loved the idea. I was sure my grandson would love it too. And I was right. An engaging picture storybook for the Christmas season. Myrrh is a young and very merry brown bat named after one of the gifts of the Magi. He experiences the wonders of his first Christmas among the decorations of a farmhouse, as well as the kindness of the family that discovers him in their home! The beautiful illustrations add enchantment to the text. Bravo to author, Regan W. H. Macaulay, and illustrator, Alex Zgud. Note from this reviewer: Watch the Book Trailer on YouTube. Well worth your 1:05 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgG9pKZW9ko The book is available from Amazon and it’s also available as a 5.00 PDF for your e-reader from Guardian Angel Publishing https://www.guardianangelpublishing.com/merry-myrrh.htm

This picture book by Regan W.H. Macaulay is an amazingly creative Christmas story. It’s about a young bat, who was named Myrrh after one of the wise men’s gifts. He wants to see the Nativity scene in a house belonging to humans because his parents have told him about it. But the bat does some dangerous and exciting things as the story unfolds. Kids will enjoy his adventure and the happy ending. The book would make a great Christmas gift and the illustrations by Alex Zgud are perfect for the story.

Merry Myrrh makes you want to smile and warms your heart. Right to the essence of the holidays with the nativity, the smells, the warmth inside and snow outside in a beautiful country home. You're right there with Myrrh looking in through the window and makes you want to hangout with them all day. Awesome illustrations with fun Christmas Scenes told with the unique character of a bat. Also a great note on Wildlife Conservation. Everything a holiday book should be, check it out.

Year after year, a tradition is built. Two barn bats, Mr. and Mrs. Raft, visit a farmhouse to see the Christmas decorations through the window, especially the Nativity. When their young son hears of this annual Christmas adventure, he wants to join the fun and see the figure for whom he was named, the gift of the Magi. But his parents do not think Myrrh is old enough yet, so he sets off to explore with the help of his friend, Sensa Squirrel. MERRY MYRRH: THE CHRISTMAS BAT is a sweet adventure story of a young bat experiencing the wonder of his first Christmas. The kindness shown him by the farmhouse family is a good lesson for all children in treating others the way we want to be treated ourselves, even a “Christmas Bat.” Alex Zgud’s illustrations are beautiful and engaging, and the colorful Christmas scenes bring this story to life and warm one’s heart. Macaulay also includes an informational paragraph on bats which kids will enjoy. Recommended for Kindergarten-2nd grade children, ages 4-7. **Disclosure: I received a copy of this book free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.
