Overview

Meteora

Considering that several million people were won over by the hard-rock-meets-hip-hop sound of Linkin Park's multi-platinum debut, Hybrid Theory -- one of the most successful rock debuts of the last decade -- it's no surprise that the Los Angeles group stick pretty close to the same recipe on their follow-up, Meteora. "Hit the Floor," replete with whiplash time changes and Chester Bennington's signature howls, is probably the disc's heaviest moment, while the speed-crazed "Breaking the Habit" concentrates on hitting that perfect beat. The fellas in Linkin Park do, however, take a few liberties with the recipe this time around, stretching out on the dusky instrumental "Sessions" and stripping away just about all the rock trappings for a straight-ahead hip-hop workout, "Nobody's Listening," which borrows the Beasties' tried-and-true flute-loop backdrop to good effect. Much like their last outing, Meteora is a breathless blast of sound: The songs are spliced together with samples and all manner of sonic effluvia, which sustains the momentum and keeps noise levels at a fever pitch. Drawing on their tested sonic formula, Linkin Park once again shoot high -- and hit the mark.

Great work. SOngs like Faint and Hit the Floor definitely bring back the sound of Hybrid Theory, but Numb and Nobody's Listening give it a new kind of sound. Great work all around. Now, please, LInkin Park, for the love of God, make a third album, will ya?

i just love linkin park cause they actually have songs that i can relate to. it's not like i care if someone brokeup with his/her gf/bf. linkin park doesn't focus on one kind of themes (hit the floor & nobody's listening). it's just great.

I am rating this album before it comes out because I am so confident that it will be amazing. Their last album, Hybrid Theory, is my favorite album of all time. I've been listening to it for years, and I can still put it in and listen to the whole thing straight. These guys are extremely talented and know how to produce excellent music. I can't wait for the release. I already pre-order it and you should too.

I've had meteora from some time now. Not gonna say where I got it, but I got the whole dvd/tshirt/cd package. Linkin Park never cease to amaze me. My favorite song is Easier To Run. Really hits home. Everything else rocks also. Songs like Faint and Nobody's Listening have an asian vibe to them. Thats a cool twist they've added. Only 13 tracks, but thats all good. This album ( just like their first one) I can play straight thru over and over for many years to come. Thank you guys (LP) for giving me and fans everywhere some great songs to associate great times and memories...

Linkin park has truly some of the best music iv'e ever listened to. rap sucks and disco is over. Linkin pak is the new millenia. You may think they suck because they are not underground and have their songs played on the radio, but they deserve their fame!!!

I wouldn't know if any one has recognized this, but the third track "SOMEWHERE I BELONG" is the main theme to syndicated talk show host Mark Levin. It's used to begin and end the show as well as when it goes to commercials. Otherwise, the rest of the album is awesome!!

linkin park is the best band out there, they rock..all of their songs are good, and they have catchy beats. the mix between rock and rap helps make them more original than most other bands, and mike shinoda's voice just flows well with the music...now how often is it when a lead singer can scream and sing with the same passion and it still sound good? not too often, yet chester seems to be able to do it

I just finished downloading the album (oooops, did I say that outloud?), anyway, the music's great. It's good cuz the new album gives you those similar goosebumps you did on the first. ;) The only downfall is that their experimentation with sound was very much like the first album.
