Overview

Mia a Matter of Taste (Cupcake Diaries Series #14) by Coco Simon

Mia learns to balance style and substance when she has to get glasses AND braces.

Fashionista Mia gets some unflattering news from Katie’s mom, Dr. Brown: She needs braces. And just when Mia thinks things can’t get any worse...they do. Her teacher is concerned that Mia is squinting in class. A trip to the opthamologist confirms it: Mia needs glasses, too! Mia is miserable until her stylish mom comes to the rescue with a plan and a very chic middle school look. And her wonderful Cupcake Club friends reassure her that glasses and braces don’t get in the way of all they really see: the same old Mia.

About the Author

From cupcakes to ice cream! Having written over thirty books about middle school girls and cupcakes, Coco Simon decided it was time for a change; so she’s switched her focus from cupcakes to her second favorite sweet treat: ice cream! When she’s not daydreaming about yummy snacks, Coco edits children’s books and has written close to one hundred books for children, tweens, and young adults, which is a lot less than the number of cupcakes and ice cream cones she’s eaten. She is the author of the Cupcake Diaries and the Sprinkle Sundays series.

Girls need good role models who don't care about there appearance. While Mia ends up not minding her glasses and braces in the end, it's is still not a good example for young girls. The plot is enjoyable but this book only talks about problems you can solve. There are some aspects of life that you just can't change. I was unimpressed with this book's plot and theme. I would rate it zero stars if I could.

I know this is a little detail that does really have anything to do with the story but i thought it was alexis who played soccer not emma? Other than that the story was good just like the other cupcake diaries!
