About the Author
Mich Turner's pioneering work in the world of creative cake decoration means she is often described as the queen of couture cakes. She originally trained as a Food Scientist and was Patisserie Buyer at Harvey Nichols before founding her hugely successful Little Venice Cake Company in 1999. Mich's custom-made classic and contemporary creations have graced the table of her Majesty the Queen, Madonna, Pierce Brosnan, Paul McCartney, Cheryl Cole and David Beckham. It's no wonder then that Vogue, Tatler and Stella magazines regularly feature her delicious designs. Mich has also been a consultant to numerous TV shows, including Heston Blumenthal's Feast, Rachel Allen's Bake!, Kirstie's Homemade Home and of course her own series, Couture Cakes. As a leading authority on special occasion cakes, Mich runs successful masterclasses around the world aimed at all levels of ability. She was Harpers Bazaar and Chanel Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 and is the author of four highly successful books: Spectacular Cakes (best Dessert Book, Gourmand World Cookbook Awards), Fantastic Party Cakes, Couture Wedding Cakes and Cake Masterclass (best book for food professionals, Gourmand World Cookbook Awards). In 2010 Mich was awarded an MBE for her outstanding services to the Catering Industry and in 2011, Little Venice Cake Company launched a new international range of cake baking and decorating equipment and Mich launched a range of edibles in conjunction with Silver Spoon.
