About the Author

Diana Copland began writing in the seventh grade, when she shamelessly combined elements of Jane Eyre and Dark Shadows to produce an overwrought Gothic tale that earned her an A- in creative writing, thanks entirely to the generosity of her teacher.

Born and raised in southern California, Diana moved to the Pacific Northwest after losing a beloved spouse to AIDS in 1995.

She lives in eastern Washington with three obnoxious cats, near her two wonderful adult children.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was delighted to see a sequel appear. Michael is the assistant and best friend of David, the main character from the first book. Michael is prickly and snarky in self-defense, after being badly hurt by an ex; he is determined not to get lured into a relationship with Gil, a sweet but tough man who works for their remodeling and reno company, despite the efforts of their friends to encourage it. However when the friends' business and then their lives are threatened by a series of hate crimes, Michael is forced to face his fears and figure out what he really wants. The characters are very well written; each person has distinct voice and presence in the story, even the detective trying to solve the crimes. I highly recommend this series, and suggest that you read part one, DAVID RENEWED, before reading Michael's story. Please, another addition to this series would be wonderful!
