Sounding like a post-alternative version of the Jackson 5 -- complete with effervescent harmonies, sunny melodies, rolling hip-hop beats, and dense, layered productions -- Hanson is positively bubbling energy throughout its surprisingly infectious and melodic debut, Middle of Nowhere. It's hard not to hear the lead single, "MMMBop," or the similary infectious "Where's the Love" and not get caught up in the joy of making music. Although the boys co-wrote nine of the 13 songs with professional writers, and the producers do offer a distinctive stamp, the personalities that shine through are Hanson's -- youthful, exuberant, and positively joyous. A few of the songs may run on a bit too long, and there are a couple of borrowed melodies and silly lyrics, but Middle of Nowhere is a delight.

A great CD, with the usual pop sounds. However, the song mix changes from the blissful ''MMMbop'' to the quite serious ''With You in Your Dreams.'' The young sounds make it a must for teenagers and adults with their talent and fun.
i LOVE middle of nowhere, it is a really really great cd. this is the first cd i got of hanson's and i just love it.
I got this album as an excited, loving, devoted Hanson fan back in 1997. Looking back now, still as an excited, loving, devoted Hanson fan ten years later... I'm exceedingly impressed by this CD. Not many boy bands these days can say they wrote and played their own music when only pre-teens themselves. With catchy tunes such as the ever popular MMMBop, Where's The Love, and the lesser known Lucy, and Speechless, this CD is great for anyone who likes pure pop.
This was their best cd yet! I listen to it all the time! I have been a loyal fan since 1997! I love u zac, ike, and tay!!!!
