I finished reading "A House for Mr. Biswas" by V.S .Naipaul and I fell in love with way it was written and couldn`t find anything good to read for a while so I tried Miguel Street by the same writer. It was simply awful.I don`t know how both novels are written by the same person. This book was so dissappointing ,I wished it was returnable.

The book miguel street is an outstanding book based in the caribbean island. The very best of all of his novels i think because there is life at its everything mixed with humour and almost any other emotion one can feel. His way of compiling short stories and still keeping the book linked fascinated me. I had to do this novel in school and i thought to myself 'oh,well another boring caribbean novel' and when i started reading it in class i couldn't stop, the excitement was there and the willingness of the characters to entertain, thuis book gave a new meaning to ' dont judge a book by it's cover' . This book will be enjoyed by anyone who has a taste for good literature.

Naipual has a great sense of humor, which is on full display in this book. I also enjoyed the writing format - a collection of short stories which keeps all the main characters linked throughout each individual story (as it is really the story of Miguel Street and not really about 1 character in particular).

A true picture of life in the Caribbean and the culture of day to day living for ordinary (and I guess extraordinary people, in the case of Miguel Street). Having grown up in the Caribbean myself, each character seemed to remind me of someone I knew growing up. This book kept me laughing throughout... very authentic.
