Mimi’s Adventures in Baking Gingerbread Men is the third book in the Mimi’s Adventures in Baking series. I only read this one, but you don’t need to have read the previous books to fully understand the story. Since it’s snowing outside, Mimi and Danny go to Nonni’s house. Nonni wants to try baking gingerbread men, and enlists the help of the two kids. The best part is when they can decorate the gingerbread men. At the end of the book, the recipe is included. I loved the illustrations. They’re simply adorable, and the pastel colors work great. I checked out the covers for the other books in the series too, and I love how consistent their look is. The writing was good too, and appropriate for kids. They’ll understand all the words when parents read it to them, and older ones can read it on their own. A word of warning though: you might end up baking gingerbread men after reading this! I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
It's a snow day so, while Mom still has to go to work, Mimi and her brother Danny spend the day with Nonni. They make gingerbread men cookies before going out to play. First they gather all the ingredients and equipment they will need, then Nonni and Mimi mix the ingredients, roll out the dough, cut out the gingerbread men, and bake them. When they are cool, Mimi and Danny decorate them. You and your little one can follow along with the story and then a bake a batch of gingerbread men too, as the full recipe is included at the back of the book. I love how Mimi asks all the questions your little baker is likely to ask. And Nonni's got all the answers! Fun and educational, with delightful illustrations by Chiara Civati, this is the perfect gift for the holiday season. I received this book in return for an honest review. If you saw my review of Children's Book Review- Mimi's Adventures in Baking Chocolate Chip Cookies by Alyssa Gangeri- you saw how easy it was to make chocolate chip cookies. Well this time Mimi is going to help her Nonni make Gingerbread Men! All the ingredients and the utensils needed are listed and as in the other book--safety is emphasized. What fun it would be to help your child make Gingerbread Men on a Snow Day--just like Mimi did!
