Mind Tamer by Moriah Densley

He's different.
And he's definitely trouble...

Lyssa Logan has an uncanny ability to know exactly what you're thinking, and she can solve crimes before they actually happen. Lately, however, she's been having a few issues. Brutal headaches, power fluctuations, possibly losing her grip on reality. Oh, and she appears to have stopped aging...

The moment Kyros Vassalos sees Lyssa, he knows she's one of his kind. No hocus-pocus, no voodoo. They're just very rare "extra-sentient" beings with the extraordinary ability to unlock the full potential of the mind. Now he must teach Lyssa to control her power...before it overwhelms and destroys her.

Lyssa is pretty sure Kyros is trouble. Hot, leather-pants-wearing trouble. But she's running out of time. And once she steps into Kyros's world, there's no going back...

5 star story- --- its a love story with a twist!! ****A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for an honest review**** Literally was drawn into this book and could not stop until I was finished.  Such an awesome story that I was compelled to read until I got to the end. Lysss Logan has this weird ability to know exactly what you’re thinking, she is able to solve crimes, plays music beyond concert level; she can do things that can be found in an X-FILES tv show—But Lyssa lately has been getting super sick and not sure why. In between all that happening, she met Kyros Vassalos who is an acting professor on campus and is an some sort of secret undercover angent for a group that’s almost like the X-FILES/Millennium Group. Kyros knows that Lyssa is one of the extremely few of their kind – very rare "extra-sentient" beings ---their kind being that they do not age past a certain age, they have extraordinary abilities’ This story is a fantasy/romance, a love story with some HAWT love scenes that made this book so delicious. I hope there is a book two involving  any of the cast of secondary cast of characters. I really enjoyed reading this story so much, that’s I was sad when the story was over. I needed more, that is how good I loved this story.   My rating: 5 stars *****

I love, love, loved this book!  Moriah Densley is a “new to me” author but I can tell you I will be checking out her backlist and looking forward to new installments of The Network.  Mind Tamer is the first in an exciting new series featuring extra-sentients. Extra-sentients are folks with extra gifts above and beyond genius or savant levels.  Kyros Vassalos is a smoking hot extra-sentient who has been around for over 300 years.  He is the good guy doing what he can to make the world a better place. He is super smart but even he isn’t prepared for Lyssa Logan.  She is an extraordinary violinist who moonlights as a crime stopper and is just coming into her gifts.  They chemistry between the two is flammable and although she fights it Lyssa finds she needs Kyros for more than just his help in training her gifts.  Although this book is billed as a paranormal romance it is more urban fantasy.  There isn’t a whole lot of sex but rather a slow burn.  Bottom line this is a well written, fast paced action packed read that I really enjoyed. Intriguing plot and great characters! Definitely different and thoroughly enjoyable story about Lyssa Logan, a virtuoso violinist who is also great at getting criminals caught as they perpetrate their crimes because she can read the thoughts of anyone she’s near. Now that might sound like a great talent but it is proving increasingly difficult for her – imagine being in a crowded lecture theatre and hearing the thoughts of everyone around you! No wonder she’s been getting incredibly painful headaches and passing out, gradually losing her grip on reality as she hears what others are thinking but not saying! Now, what she really needs is a hero to help her . . . . maybe it could be the new science professor – Kyros Vassalos? He’s a leather pants wearing hunk who explains to Lyssa that she’s an “extra-sentient,” like him! He wants to help her learn to control her abilities – and much more – but can she trust him and her feelings towards him? What will be the consequences of their developing relationship and what is he so worried about? Well, you’ll just have to read the book to find out! Enjoyed the author’s style, with an intriguing plot and great characters who I hope we’ll get to meet again in future stories in this series! Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley too  for letting me read this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

Being a huge fan of Moriah DENSLEY I decided to give this paranormal a try.  No regrets!  The book was capturing!  Kyros is a dream, Lyssa is the woman we all want to be, the story line is unique and the romance is perfect.  Even if paranormal isn't your "thing" I would suggest you give it a try.  If you are in to paranormal you're sure to love it!

Oh my gosh, this novel is so….mind blowing! Almost literally, but that’s because my very ordinary brain got a thrill ride like none other by reading it. Oh, the way their minds work, and this novel gave me a wonderful peek inside! I wanna be a part of that geek squad! Mind Tamer follows the struggles of an extra-sentient, Lyssa, who knows she has special “abilities” but doesn’t know what they mean, and super hunk extra-sentient, Kyros, who must save, protect, convince, persuade, educate her, all while being hunted by the darkest of evil beings.  For musicians, music theorists, and molecular physicists, this novel will spin them right out of their over-active brainwaves and into nirvana. For those readers who don’t quite run in those high-caliber mental circles (me, for instance), it will open their minds, and their eyes, to a world of unbelievable beauty. Never fear, it will also launch their brains into nirvana. Very well done.

I had never read this Author before, but loving all things supernatural I selected it to review and I was not disappointed.  Ms. Densley did an excellent job of combining the contemporary with the likelihood that there are others in our world who have extra-abilities.  The story had so much depth, that you could tell she must have done a ton of research and had personal knowledge that she wove into the story.  You can definitely tell she has a musical background, and thought it was a perfect blend with Lyssa's extra-sentient abilities and the story in general.  I loved the chemistry between Lyssa and Kyros and even though she tried to fight it, fate won out.  I felt bad for Lyssa in the beginning being able to hear peoples thoughts and blacking out, but really enjoyed when she started controlling her powers and kicking butt with them.  Kyros, was just yummy.  He knows that Lyssa is his fated and tells her he will wait for her when she does not know who she wants.  He is an alpha male, but so kind of heart even after all the tragedies he has been through in his 300+ years. An excellent start to an exciting new series, cannot wait for more! 4Stars

This is a tough one for me to rate. As someone who really respects the amount of work and creativity an author outs into a book I hate to give a less than glowing review. Let me start with the fact that it wasn't bad. I was stoked to start this after reading the blurb. I just felt that I was maybe reading a first draft in the sense that at times it felt like the world building wasn't as smooth as it could have been. I agree with someone else who said it felt like they were jumping into a series and I was having to catch up. Lyssa is different. She knows what you're thinking and helps solve crimes before they happen. She's a musical genius. The problem is she's starting to have health issues because of her powers.  Kyros comes to the rescue. He realizes Lyssa is extra sentient like he is. He's got to help her handle her powers if she wants to survive. But is that all he wants?

Kyros Vassalos is a powerful extra-sentient who is protecting the world from the chaos caused by Merodach. When Kyros arrives at NCU, he sees Lyssa Logan. He's attracted by the woman and stunned by her powerful abilities. She doesn't know it but she's an extra-sentient. He vows to protect her and to teach her how to use her talents. I loved this story! Kyros and Lyssa are such strong and powerful characters. I loved their playful interaction when their minds connected. It was humorous and very sexy. Their romance had me sighing. The secondary characters added so much depth and emotion to the story. I hope that we see more of them in future books. I liked Jack, the berserker. I know he has quite a tale to tell. Moriah Densley wrote a well-plotted and suspenseful romance. The action was non-stop and filled with surprising twists. She gave the reader a unique paranormal slant that had me hooked from the first page. I wanted Kyros and Lyssa to have the HEA that they deserved. Mind Tamer is a keeper.

Kyros and Lyssa are extra sentient's...people who are extremely gifted, live longer (can be 45 and look 25) and are brilliant. Kyros has been around for a long time when he catches Lyssa's scent...she is just coming into her powers and her brain is short circuiting. Kyros shows her how to handle her ability's and asks her to join him and his group looking for and taking care of extra sentient children...besides he's fallen into love with her. There much more to the story than just that...terrorists, an enemy who has haunted and hurt Kyros for centuries, .....Cassie, Kyros's great, great, great, great, great granddaughter, ....a berzerker, and Lyssa's true parentage. There is a lot of playfulness and humor between the characters that I didn't expect but really enjoyed. Great story, highly recommend it.

This was the first paranormal romance I’ve read by Ms. Densley and I have to say it was absolutely brilliant!  I was simply in awe of the author’s imagination that formed this incredible story.  Both the hero and heroine (Kyros and Lyssa) are extra sentients who can hear others’ thoughts and speak to others in their thoughts and minds.  There is an ancient evil sentient who’s trying to find Lyssa and is led to her inadvertently by Kyros when Kyros falls in love with Lyssa and her musical and mindful talents…and attracts the ancient evil right to Lyssa’s door.  The way Kyros and Lyssa talk to each other silently – and otherwise – is nothing short of beautiful.  These two were meant for each other and the author helps them stay together and reach their happy ever after.  Sigh…I loved this story!

Wow!  I loved this book! I wasn't sure what to expect going into this, as you just never know what an author will do when writing about the paranormal, but for me, the story line was totally believable, and I fully expect to develop some mind reading ability via osmosis!  The Otherworld aspect of the book was phenomenal,  and the Entangled part was very believable - not every situation is tied with a bow and wrapped or unwrapped neatly, and that is so very much like life! I was right there in the trenches with the characters and enjoyed the ride, it left me laughing and crying and breathless!  I highly recommend this book, it has a great mix of romance, paranormal, action and adventure!

**I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review** 3.5 stars Well, this book was hard to rate for me. As paranormals go, it has a very interesting story line, so plot wise is an excellent read. Kyros, the hot Greek leather-pants-wearing geek-superhero-genius alpha lead of the book was quite charming and sexy. Lyssa too was very likable, she is funny and quirky and not a pushover, so she was my kind of female lead. Their interactions are interesting to say the least and it was nice to see how they came together. How Kyros gently guides Lyssa to fulfill her potential. So why, if I liked the story and loved the characters am I not rating this book 5 stars? It so happens that I had a couple of issues with the book in general. First, I found the writing, especially concerning descriptions, to be extremely wordy. Now, I know that not being a native speaker of the English language I will occasionally find words I don’t know that I’ll have to look up, and I have no problem with that, but in this case its not as much that I had to look words up as it just was, in my opinion, exceedingly tedious to read . Also, the blurb does not mention that over half of the book includes a love triangle. I personally do not enjoy love triangles. It could be said that I loathe love triangles. This was a major turn off for me. The heat factor is practically sub zero, but that I could overlook for the story was that good for me. Now, I’ve been reading a couple of first installments on series that are just beginning, and I’ve come to find that the right balance between the couples’ romance story line and the setting of the whole new series is very hard to find. Some put so much attention on setting the world for the next books that the romance is kind of lost in the process. This book was the opposite, it mentions past events and current situations and backgrounds in such a way that I had to go check if this was not actually the first book and I had missed it somehow. Once I got over the writing style, and more action (and fewer descriptions) started, I enjoyed the read very much. I’m still undecided as to whether I will read the next installment or not, though the story is compelling, I like a little bit of action *wink-wink* on my books. Still, I liked the book. I’d recommend it but with caution. There’s no funny business, get your thesaurus out, and only read if you don’t mind pseudo-love triangles.

A fun paranormal! I always loved Moriah Densley’s novels, and when I saw that she had a new release, I requested it on NetGalley. This time the author created a refreshing world of fantasy with her characters Kyros and Lyssa. I love paranormal and this one was fun to read. Lovers of music will appreciate MIND TAMER, her first novel in her new series Network One. As the title shows, her characters are mind readers...so if you love that kind of story, you won’t be disappointed.
