Great addition to the Matrix of Destiny series. Parts of the book will make more sense if you have read the first two books in the series, but there is a stand-alone story that is well told. Familiar Gian is rescued from the evil Karpon by Jenise after he agrees to an unorthodox bargain. In exchange for his release, he is to take her virginity. What familiar would turn down that arrangement? It quickly becomes more than a simple de-flowering when feelings and instinct become involved. With Karpon on their tail, they must run through danger and through several worlds until they arrive at their Destiny. The story is told in a manner that is both humorous and sensuous at the same time. There is action, adventure, and romance. You will re-meet several characters from Knight of Trillion Stars and Rejar continuing the 'Destiny' storyline, which will make you want to keep reading the series. I listened to the audiobook which was well done.

OK, I want a Gian Ren too! He's the king of all Familiars, beings who can take the form of both a cat and a human. Familiars are also intensely sensual and sexual (picture me fanning myself about now). Jenise needs to escape from her evil uncle who plans to wed her and become king by taking her virginity. When she hears he captured a familiar, she decides to rid herself of her virginity using the captive. Gian recognizes Jenise as his mate and refuses to leave her behind. This book was interesting and arousing to read. The growth of their relationship during their journey to Gian's homeland was realistic (or as realistic as sci-fi/fantasy gets). This book stands alone but be warned, you will likely end up wanting to buy the other books in this series to see where events here fit in the storyline!!

I'll give Dara Joy 4 stars for the AU she created, and for side character Traed ta'al Krue, who is my hands-down favorite and appears in all her Matrix stories, including the e-books she sells direct from her website. But otherwise - the women are twits, the men are Tarzan apes, the sex scenes last forever, and there's huge logical paradoxes in Joy's sloppily thought-out AU that are only partially redeemed by the humorous touches. And I really, really, dislike her portrayal of Krue of Lodarres, who could not possibly be so successful, experienced, and respected with the way she draws his bull-in-a-china-shop character. Her most recent stories in the MoD series are "That Familiar Touch" and "Death by Ploot-Ploot", published through e-book only. "Death" is a waste of time, but "Touch" is an important point in Traed ta'al Krue's storyline, even though again he is just a side character who comes in only briefly.

Gian Ren is H-O-T! Yup, that pretty much sums him up. He is a king amongst the familiars, beings that can take the form of a cat and who are extremely sensual. He has been captured, drugged, and is hanging by chains in a nasty dungeon. Jenise learns that a powerful man from another realm is being held prisoner. She is desperate to escape her step-uncle, who plans on marrying her and, by taking her virginity, becoming king. So, she sneaks down to the dungeon and her jaw hits the floor when she spies Gian Ren. She puts her plan into action. She needs to rid herself of her virginity to stop Karpon from taking the throne. However, Gian Ren recognizes her as his one and only mate and he refuses to leave her behind while he escapes. Their perilous adventure of escaping from her world and avoiding the soldiers that her uncle sends after them. This book has a strong tone of sci-fi and much for futuristic that the past books within the series, however, it isn't over powering and the romance is solid.I highly recommend readers give this series a try.

Not too graphic, which was a nice change. It reminded me somewhat of "Star Wars meets up with the Shape Shifters." Nice adventure and a good read gor when you want to take a break from the more intense romance books. Loved the characters, but feel that there should be another book following this one. Would love to know what happened to Dariq - if he survived, and if the Familiars are going to extract revenge against the monster in charge of Jenise's village. Yes, hope there will be another book.

Very enjoyable book. The intimate moments are really sexy and the heroine is a strong woman. Of course, the hero is stronger. Great sexy adventure!! This was my first Dara Joy book, and I will definitely be reading more of her books.
