The Miss Education of Dr. Exeter by Jillian Stone

"Deduction, seduction, and a sense of humor. . .awesome writing." --USA Today

From steam-powered bunkers to steamy boudoirs, paranormal detective Phaeton Black knows his way around Victorian London. But sometimes, when you slip down a rabbit hole, there's no turning back. . .

If The Portal's A-Rockin'

Phaeton Black is missing. Sucked into an alternative universe--courtesy of Professor Lovecraft's Trans-Dimensional Injection Portal--the illustrious investigator is nowhere to be found. Even the bewitching Miss America Jones, who's pregnant with Phaeton's child, has no clue to his whereabouts. But when a spy fly's microphone picks up Phaeton's voice in the parlors of Paris, she enlists his dearest friends to track him down--before his deadliest enemies find him first. . .

Don't Come A-Knockin'

Accompanied by the dashing Dr. Exeter, his delightful ward Mia, and a trusty duo of Nightshades, it's off to the City of Lights for the determined Miss Jones. Unfortunately, there is something about Paris in the fall that brings out the devil in Dr. Exeter--and the beast in mild-mannered Mia, whose animal urges transform her into a gorgeous panther. With physical reality unraveling on both sides of the cosmic rift, the good doctor must extract Phaeton Black from the clutches of a diabolical techno-wizard--or both could lose the women they love to love. . .forever.

Praise for The Seduction of Phaeton Black

"A sexy, supernatural romp!"--Zoë Archer

"A dark Victorian concoction. . .sexy as hell!"--Ray Garton, author of Live Girls

My main complaint about this book is the absense of Phaeton and America. Both the cover and the teaser lead you to believe it (like the first two books) revolve around these two characters. However it is almost entirely about the Doctor and Mia, with Phaeton and America playing very minor roles. That said, the story is highly erotic (sometimes bordering on pornographic). If you like that type of tale, this is an enjoyable read.

THE MISS EDUCATION OF DR. EXETER by Jillian Stone is an exciting Paranormal Romance. Phaeton Black, Paranormal Investigator #3,but can be read as a stand alone. See" The Seduction of Phaeton Black" and "The Moonstone and Miss Jones"(may not be in order). "The Miss Education of Dr. Exeter" is a mixture steampunk with Sci-Fi high adventure, romance and paranormal investigators Victorian England style. Follow, Phaeton Black,Miss America Jones,Dr. Exeter, Mia and Nightshades. Mia, turns into a beautiful panther,Miss America Jones, is carrying Phaeton Black's child, who is missing, so she enlists his friends to help find him and get him home before she losses him forever. Fast paced story filled with inventive plots, and charming characters. A dark, steamy Victorian romp through England and places beyond, including Paris. What a delightful romp between Steampunk, Historical romance and Sci-Fi adventure. I have read all three and gotta say I have enjoyed each and everyone of them! Received for an honest review from the publisher. RATING:4 HEAT RATING: MILD REVIEWED BY: Aprilr, Review courtesy of My Book Addiction and More

In The Miss Education of Dr. Exeter, Jillian Stone takes us on an erotic steampunk adventure.  This novel is the latest installment in the Phaeton Black series.  The plot centers around the disappearance of said Phaeton Black, whose lover America Jones is about to give birth to his child, and his colleagues' attempts to retrieve him from the clutches of the evil wizard Prospero.  Along the way, Dr. Exeter has to deal with his ward, Mia's, rather delicate condition.  She is a shapeshifter, and her shifts have come at the most inopportune moments.  Mia must learn to control the shifts or they will control her life.  But how, oh, how, might those shifts be controlled?  How might her inner panther be dominated?  And who will conduct Mia's education in these new control techniques?  Will she be able to control herself in order to help those she cares about? There were some elements of the book that echoed scenes from other novels I've read.  For example, the mechanical insects reminded me of the ladybugs in Gail Carriger's novels.  There were other aspects that reminded me of Cassandra Clare's The Infernal Devices trilogy.  The part where Mia and Exeter attend a rather interesting party reminds me of another book I read not too long ago, The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters (volume 1).   If you are offended by erotica, then this book is not for you.  I don't read erotica just for the sake of reading erotica, but if it's thrown in there and actually adds something to the plot, I don't mind.  In this case, I have to say it added an interesting twist to the plot.  Overall, I thought it was a fun read.  I have not read the other books in the series, and I must confess to being somewhat lost at times due to the many references to the characters' previous adventures.  However, I don't think this should keep anyone from reading this book if given the opportunity.

This was possibly one of the most intricate plots I have ever read, mixing steampunk, science fiction, paranormals, dimensional travel and romance with several erotic scenes.  Totally delightful, I did not find many places where I felt uninformed about characters or events that happened in the first two books, although it was apparent that connections were long standing and complex.  Fortunately, much of the missing pieces filled in as the story progressed, with some tidbits of information supplied by the author to reacquaint readers of the series with characters who are reappearing.  Precise language and luscious details give the feel of the Victorian setting, while phrasing, innovative gadgets and highly erotic scenes make the story fresh and modern.  Cleverly mixing science fiction, steampunk, historical details and paranormal creatures further add to the enjoyment of the story.   Exeter and Mia are beautifully described and developed: as they delve further into teaching Mia to control her panther, the sexual tension between the two creates several steamy scenes.  The conflict Exeter experiences between what he feels, and what he believes is appropriate to feel has shattered his detached and clinical façade: and makes for some interesting and quite comical reactions on Mia’s part.  In the struggle to reunite America and Phaeton the action and tension are neatly presented and the story does manage to neatly wrap up many of the loose ends, although I still see potential for further development of all the character storylines, and I will be reading the first two in this series to fill in the details about the characters I only know superficially.   I received an ARC copy from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

The Moonstone is creating havoc with space and time.  Phaeton is trapped, leaving America alone and very pregnant. Phaeton is being held captive by Domina Valour and all the stops are pulled out to discover his where a bouts and form a rescue plan.. but Domina seems to be one step ahead of the Investigators. Mia is having difficulties controlling her shifts and its causing wild sexual cravings...cravings she is focusing all on Dr. Exeter. This is a highly erotic steampunkish story. To help control Mia's shifts, Dr. Exerter must teach her how to control herself through sexual release...while fighting his own personal desires for the young woman who has been living under his care. Of course, Mia has other plans and attempts to push Exerter into sexual overload at every turn.  The story was extremely interesting and original with a great balance of erotica aspects and substantial plot building. Complex and developed story with panty melting sex, The Miss Education of Dr. Exeter was a brilliantly crafted read. I received this ARC copy of The Miss Education of Dr. Exeter from Kensignton Books in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication June 25, 2013.
