Will Mr. Means heed the advice of the ghostly Molly Limbo?
Mr. Means was a miser who bought a haunted house. He did not mind moving in with a ghost if the price was right, and it was. So in he moves with his money boxes and hires Mrs. Handy to cook and clean for him.
But Mr. Means soon finds himself with two housekeepers: Mrs. Handy and Molly Limbo, the ghost who occupies the house. Glad to have company again, Molly cleans the house until it shines. She bakes delicious bread.
It isn't long before Mr. Means comes to the conclusion that an ethereal housekeeper is cheaper than a flesh-and-blood one. But when Mrs. Handy is fired, Mr. Means receives a priceless lesson in human worth from a wise and ghostly lady.
Elizabeth Miles's finely-detailed watercolors give visual life to the words of a master storyteller.
