I have adored Nick since I first met him in the Gotcha Detective series. This book takes us back to early in his career when a case really hits him and helps make him the outstanding detective that he is. A stop for a quick bite at a cafe turns into a murder call that leads him into the world of runaways and teen prostitution. Although he is on patrol at this point he can't let the case go especially since the detectives on the case are caught up in something "more important". Short but well developed and touching, this story makes me love Nick more than ever.
