Overview

Montana Cherries by Kim Law

After her mother’s tragic death, Dani Wilde had no choice but to abandon her dreams. She left Columbia University and returned to her family’s Montana cherry farm, intent on being a maternal figure to her brothers. Now the kids are grown, and it’s finally her time to fly. Her sights are on New York City, and nothing will stop her—not even an old flame with gorgeous green eyes.

Celebrity photographer Ben Denton hasn’t seen Montana in years—and hasn’t spoken to Dani since “that night” so long ago. When he discovers he’s a dad to a four-year-old—and the child’s mother refuses to care for her—Montana and the Wilde farm spring to mind. The orchard is the only place that’s ever felt like home, but will the warmth of the Wilde family be enough to help Ben figure out how to be a father?

As the Wilde family gathers for the yearly cherry harvest and Dani struggles to figure out what she really wants in life, she discovers the shocking truth about her own mother—and learns that following her heart may lead her to her dreams after all.

What we come to expect from Kim Law. Another great novel, about romance of two strong willed people that need each other to make the circle complete. Cowboy bull rider Nick Wilde who mother made him feel not loved and leaves the whole family with scares. And a woman Harper Stone who's husband dies and she feels it is her fault find comfort and love from each other.Wonderful story. “I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.” I will be purchasing this book to own. Just love the story. Can't wait for the next book.

My review of Montana Cherries by Kim Law: I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Montana Cherries is a wonderful read. The characters are well developed and the dynamics between characters are great. This one will tug at your heart strings as you become more and more involved in the story of Dani Wilde and her brothers and her father. Dani is a strong woman full of love and compassion, but when not so pleasant memories of her mother start entering her mind she begins to question who she really is. Enter Ben Denton and his four year old daughter Haley and Dani just becomes even more confused about who she is. She is set to move to New York a life long dream of hers when Ben reenters her life, she can not deny her attraction to Ben and their friendship that they developed so many years ago just picks right back up. Ben and Dani are totally at ease in each others company once they discuss the one time that they slept together years ago. But as her brothers return home and plans for the future of their farm changes Dani feels more at a loss than ever and then a secret comes to light that was kept from Dani by her brother's and father. Will Dani ever be able to forgive them? All she knows is that she must leave as planned no matter how Ben feels about her, she just needs to find out who she is and what she wants to do with her life before she can even begin to think about sharing it with anyone else. Grab your tissues before you start reading this one you will need them. This book is a wonderful choice for anyone who loves a great romance with family love and drama added in to the mix.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. I loved this book from the cover through the story and even the Acknowledgements. Dani Wilde has sacrificed her college education and desire to move to NYC after her mother's death, to help her father raise her younger brothers. After 10 years, her brothers are all grown and she is finally reaching her goal with a dream job in NYC. Then Ben Denton, her first and only love, returns for a visit with his newly acknowledged 4 year old daughter. As she starts to pack up, she starts having repressed memories, that her mother was not the paragon that she had thought. The book introduces the reader to Narcissistic Personality Disorder. How her family comes to recognize and deal with it and how she realizes that she can love herself and Ben. I had a hard time putting this one down and stayed up way too late last night to finish it.

This is so much more than a sweet romance! It explores familial relationships and dynamics in a moving manner, with the focus on Dani Wilde and those around her. Dani was at Columbia University when her mother dies. She gave up her studies to return to the family Cherry farm in Montana to bring up her younger brothers who are now grown up. She plans to return to live her own life, starting a new job in a month’s time. That’s when her first lover, Ben, returns to Montana, bringing with him his four year old daughter who he is only just starting to know after her mother refuses to look after her. Thrust into the role of father, he seeks the only place he felt was home, the Wilde Cherry Farm and his first love, Dani. There are lies and secrets to be revealed as Ben learns to be a father and Dani questions just what she really wants in life. Some of the secrets are devastating for Dani, who tries to emotionally shut herself away to protect herself, but Ben is always there to support her. In a similar way, Dani is always there to help Ben learn to be a father to his delightful daughter and there are some really sweet interactions between the three of them. The romance between them does develop but it is the whole gamut of characters that make the story. I really hope this will be followed by other novels concerning Dani’s brothers! Many thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for gifting me an ARC of this novel with no obligation. This is my honest review.

Montana Cherries by Tennessee author, Kim Law, is a story about healing, family, and learning to love. Dani is finally moving to NYC to live hear dream, but some big secrets about her family are revealed, and she realizes why she's put everyone else first for so long. The revelations make her question everything, even her growing feelings for Ben. Ben has his own issues. He found out he had a daughter and has no idea how to be a father. This story has so much to do with family and how life isn't always perfect or pretty, but family and friends make it liveable. I loved the messages within this story. Even through the ugliness, life can be beautiful. The ARC of Montana Cherries by Kim Law was kindly provided to me by the publisher for review. The opinions are my own.

This is the first book I have read by Kim Law and I will be reading more. I am always worried when I get a book from a new author. Although the short synopsis sounds good you just never know if it's really going to live up to your expectations. I must say that I was not let down with this book. After the death of her mother Dani puts her life on hold thinking her father and brothers need her. She strives each day to make her mother proud of the woman she has become and has only recently started making changes that will enable her to live her dreams. When Ben shows up with his four year old daughter in tow Dani is determined to finally stretch her wings and fly and let nothing stand in her way...Not even an old flame and a beautiful little girl. I loved the way Kim Law drew me in. It was hard to put the book down. I wanted to find out what really happened between Dani and her family. You could feel the drawl between Ben and Dani and the way Dani fought it with everything she had was almost funny. She was determined to find out what she had been missing. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers and will be reading more of Kim Law's books!

Dani Wilde was the sole person who glued her family together. It doesn’t matter if her dreams of attending Columbia and live a normal college life came to a halt. She was needed by her family, and she came back for them. But now, her brothers have settled down, and it was time for her to make her dreams of going to New York come true. She will go there, nothing will stop her this time, not even an old flame. Ben Denton is coming back home, alongside the daughter who was pushed into him by an ex. He didn’t know what to do with a kid, he didn’t know how to act around her. He was trying, and his latest action was to bring his daughter back to Montana. He spent some of his childhood there, and he knew it would be a great place to raise his four-year old daughter. But will coming back home be enough for him to figure out if he was cut out to be a father? Dani tries to figure out what she really wants in life, was it going to New York or staying with her family? She was finally getting some memories from her past – memories she didn’t know exists, especially the truth about her own mother. Talk about a surprising turn-out of events. What I love about Dani is her big, generous heart. She took care of everyone and did it flawlessly. I don’t think her brothers would be where they are right now if it wasn’t for her. She forgot about herself, about her happiness, her dreams. I was glad she was finally given a chance of going to New York and making her dreams come true. But it was not that simple. And what I love most about this book is that it is more than just romance (which is really sweet, by the way!), it talks about family. Their relationship – the ups and downs, the perfections and imperfections, the struggles. They may argue at times, they may have some misunderstanding, but at the end of the day – you’re family would always be with you. Supporting you and wanting nothing but the best for you. Although there would ALWAYS be some exceptions: it was just sad both Ben and Dani experienced it. Ben – he may have some hesitations at first, but after Dani gave her some tips and support – he was at it like a pro. I mean playing dolls with his four year old daughter: it was just priceless. Pretty much adorable and one of my most favorite scenes in the book! Even though it broke my heart a bit, I was glad of Dani’s decision – she needed it. It needed to be done not just for her, but for their relationship to go on. I was just crossing my fingers that she’d decide fast before Ben changes his mind! I was surprised that this one is a stand-alone, considering Dani has some interesting brothers. Kim Law, I’d love to read about their happy endings as well, would you consider it?

So much more than the romance developing between Dani and Ben going on that I had a hard time putting the book down once I started. Seeing Ben building a relationship with his daughter Hailey was brought both tears and smiles. I loved that he didn't give up and learned how to be a father. Dani and Ben were great together, and my heart broke for Ben when he had to give her up. The Wilde family has been keeping secrets from Dani, but once they are exposed, they begin the healing process. I do hope that there will be more books to follow for the Wilde Family. 4.5 stars I received an ARC via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

MONTANA CHERRIES is the first book I've read from author Kim Law and after finishing this lovely book I'm asking myself why my reading friends never suggested her books to me before. I loved this beautiful story! Dani and Ben formed a bond when he visited her home on college breaks with her brother. But life took them separate directions. Years later, Ben's back with his young daughter visiting her brother and seeking a peace he's only ever had under the big skies of Montana and with the woman he's never been able to forget. Dani has been busy taking responsibility for her five younger brothers and their family cherry farm after the sudden death of her mother. Finally they are all adults and it's her turn to pursue her dreams. But letting go of the family requires facing up to the family history before moving forward. This book has it all. A second chance love story, great family bonding, a strong heroine coming into her own, and two sweet little four year old girls that will steal your heart. The writing is engaging, well-paced and consistent. The characters and dialogue are well written and kept my interest throughout the story. I'm hoping this will become a series with each of Dani's brothers taking the spotlight and finding their own love. 4 stars ~Complimentary copy downloaded from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

This is the story of Dani Wilde and Ben Denton. The blurb about the book gives you the basic storyline, but in true Kim Law fashion, it only touches on the whole story. I have read many of Kim Law’s books and loved them all. They are stories about family and life, about finding your own life’s calling, and love. This book has all of that and more. The story is about Ben and Dani falling in love. But it is also about Ben learning to be a father, and Dani finally getting what she wants after giving up so much, only to find that it was what she wanted then, but not now. It’s the story of family protecting their own, sometimes when they really shouldn’t have been protected after all. It’s about family secrets and how they can change lives. It’s about loving what you do and where you are, and growing up. I was so taken with this book that I read it twice, and will undoubtedly read it again. Much of this book is written like many other of this author’s books, with a light and fun flair. However, I feel this book shows growth on the part of the author, in exploring subjects that are often difficult. Mental disorders are rarely easy, especially for the people closest to the afflicted. Living with the fallout and moving on, that is the message, brilliantly told. Montana Cherries is well worth whatever the price may be. Buy it. Enjoy it!

Dani Wilde is in college when her mum dies and she has to return home to look after her brothers, now years later the boys have grown up and Dani has decided to get on with her life and move to New York and do what she has always wanted to do - live and work in a big city, while her brothers take over the running of their family cherry farm - or that is what she thought would happen. Ben Denton a now famous photographer and an old friend to the Wilde family, when finding out that he has a four year old he knew nothing about, when the mother hands his daughter over to him and leaves, decides to return to Montana and goes to the Wilde family to see if he can get his life in order and to try to bond with his daughter. Dani and Ben have a history of friendship and 'one night' together 10 years ago and they have not seen each other since then so when Ben returns to the farm, she is shocked to still feel the same for him that she did all those years ago and she decides that she will not go there again!! but she is also determined that his returning will not stop her from finally leaving her home. No other woman has ever stood out more than Dani to Ben, he knows that she is leaving after the cherry harvest but he can not seem to stay away from her, she helps him to see what he needs to do to become a father to his daughter and slowly he falls in love once again with her. Now he has to try and win her once again, but winning her may mean that she has to give up her dream once again or winning her and then losing her again may be his only option but will he survive a second time? Dani has made a life looking after her brothers and the cherry farm, she has opened a shop in town and made a success of it but something in the back of her mind tells her she is missing something vital but she can not put her finger on it, memories flash up that she can not remember but leave her sad but she can not remember it all. When the sadness takes over Dani escapes either for a walk thru the farm or she sits on the dock to try and process what is going on, this is where Ben finds her and they fall back into their friendship and when Dani's world falls apart, he is there to help her through it. This is a story that deals with mental illness with grace and dignity, old friendships, love, family bonds, and a family growing to learn to trust and love once again. The background story of Dani's family and the cherry farm all add to this fantastic story, I know I will be reading this book again as Kim draws you into the story and keeps you there with wanting to know what will happen next. I definitely call this a MUST READ and I hope that we get to read about the other characters in this book as I hope their story gets told too.

This began with such a sweet, almost, old fashioned feel. Dani Wilde was off at her freshman year at Columbia, but had to return home after the death of their mother to help her dad raise her younger brothers and work at the family cherry orchard business. But soon, Law digs much deeper into the family dynamics and secrets that have been at work during this past decade or so. Dani, with a successful independent marketing firm that includes the family orchard, has at last made plans to return to New York. And the book is a set at that perfect time, when the cherry harvest is set to be picked and Dani's departure will cap off all the year’s hard work. Ben Denton has returned to Montana a successful photographer, but with a 4 year old daughter in tow who has essentially been abandoned by her mother for her father’s ‘turn’ to raise her. Dani's caring nature, for both her niece and Ben's daughter Haley was so heartwarming. This was a much more emotional read than I was expecting and depth of the family’s feelings for one another were rewarding. The publisher provided a free copy of this book for review.

Reviewed by Angela and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog 4.5 Stars Dani Wilde had given up her dreams to help raise her brothers after her mom had died in a car accident. To uphold her mom’s memory she raised them the best she can as her mom would’ve raised them. But they are all grown, and now it’s time for her to live her dream. As things start to fall apart, reasons and excuses come up for her to stay. But her brothers will not have it and will tell her the family secret hoping to push her pursue her dreams instead. Nothing is what it seems, and this secret will definitely destroy her. To add cherry on top of all of her problems, her childhood crush comes back to town. After a successful year in Los Angeles, Ben comes back with the daughter he never knew existed. Determined to be a good father, he seeks help from the Wilde family who seems to have everything in tact. After seeing Dani again, he realizes there may be more reasons to visit this household. There is a lot at play here. Montana Cherries is about life at its best throwing heartaches, disappointments, and drama into the characters’ lives. Most importantly is rising above the disappointments. I especially love the romance bit of the story. Ben, despite his problems, recognized Dani for who she was. He pursued romantically but let go when it was needed. Dani, on the other hand, was stronger, pursued what was needed and stood strong even when she had to make hard decisions. It was both heartbreaking and empowering. I cried, laughed and fell in love with all the characters in this book. Other than a couple of slow spots, it was a great read overall. I know Montana Cherries is meant to be standalone but after reading this book, I have no doubt that we will get more of the Wilde Family. There so much more to explore and I would like to know that each sibling get’s their happy-ending. While Ms. Law and her pub decide on that, we will get another novel before the year is over and another by January, which both are in the works.

Great Book! This is a great book by Kim Law. Dani abandoned her dreams when her mother died in a car accident, to stay at home and take care of her brothers. Now that her brothers are grown it is her time. She is leaving her family’s Montana cherry farm to go work in New York City. Ben Denton is a celebrity photographer who recently found out that he has a four year old daughter and the mother has given the child to him. He leaves the celebrities behind and goes to Montana to his best friend’s farm. When he sees Dani again after all these years, he knows that he still has feelings for her. Dani soon learns the truth about her mother that she has buried deep all of these years, so it is time for her to do something for herself. If you are looking for a great romance book that will keep you reading way past your bedtime then you need to read this book. I LOVED it and can’t wait to read the next book by this author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Montana Cherries by Kim Law is a beautiful book. It is not your ordinary love story. Dani the main character has a lot to cope with that she has yet realize. Ben her love interest is there for when things crumble around her. They are two extraordinary friends that lean on one another and help each other figure how to work things out. It is a love that develops over time and continues even with distance. The book is also about a family that has to deal with a crazy upbringing and now are coming to grips with it and healing together. It is so beautifully written. This book was hard to put down with so much going on. It is truly my favorite so far and I hope for it to become a series. So we can find out more about her brothers and see how Dani is doing. This was a VERY emotional read. There was some predictability, but there were also some twists I didn’t quite see coming. It was a compelling read that kept me turning pages, but also felt a little drawn out at times. Character development was great and realistic. I wanted more from the ending as it felt almost anticlimactic, but it was ultimately satisfying none the less. Overall, it was a very good read that had me smiling at time and crying at times with characters full of depth. Montana Cherries is an engaging read full of authenticity. I’d love to read more from this author and recommend this awesome read to anyone who’s not tried Kim Law yet!

“I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my unbiased review.” I'm a big fan of Kim Law's books and always find them well written with likable characters. I will admit that I enjoy my books with a little more romance in them, and this one was on the light side for romance, but that didn't stop me from liking Montana Cherries. I have to tell you this was a hard review to write. I always struggle when I write my reviews, the need to balance which information to give and what to hold back is a thin line. I think you'll find Montana Cherries to be a very emotional book to read. It's a little heavier then some romances. It reminded me a little of Brenda Novak, her books have heavier themes to them sometimes. Law does a great job of what families dealing with mental illness go through. Often I thought how unfair life was treating Dani. I liked her but you could tell that she's use to being in charge. Ben works so hard to be a good dad and it

Ben returns to Montana ten years after last visiting his friend Gabe and his family with his newly discovered four year old daughter in tow. He discovers the girl he had a thing for all those years ago is still around, but about to embark on a journey to NYC. Dani has put her life on hold to raise her brothers and help her father out at his cherry farm. But all of that is about to change and she decides to finally return to her dreams in NYC that were abandoned after her mother's tragic death all of those years ago. This book is beautifully written and is a great story about first love rediscovered. Throw in a huge secret revealed and the twists and turns keep coming. Keep the tissues ready as you read this one. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Montana Cherries, is a must read this summer. This book is full of family relationships, healing and finding love. Kim Law has touched on the subject of mental illness on how it effects the whole family and just not the individual. She has shown how the family has healed from the painful death of their mother. Dani gave up her dream of going away to college to help raise her brothers after the tragic death of their mother. Now they are all raised and she is going to live out her dream of moving away from the family's cherry farm in Montana to New York. In the meantime, Ben has moved back home with his small daughter. Dani had a one night fling with Ben years ago. Can Dani still move to New York or will she follow her heart. I am so hoping that there will be more stories of Dani's brothers. I am loving this family. I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

A poignant tale of family dynamics, realization of family secrets and the impact those secrets have on their lives, along with the healing that has to be done to move forward. This was a very different book by Kim Law and in my opinion, it was her best yet. Dani Wilde had to throw her dreams to the side after a tragic car accident left her mother dead. She had to come home to Montana and the family cherry farm to raise her four brothers. The time is here now, her brothers are grown and she is finally able to leave the farm and go to NY and follow her dreams. Ben Denton who left Montana years ago has come back. He needed to find his footing and what better place than the Wilde's cherry farm he practically grew up on. Only this time he shows up with a four year old daughter in tow, one he knew nothing about until her mother refused to take care of her. He hopes being on the farm will help him become a father, and not screw up his little girl. The romance of Dani and Ben is just one of the stories in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed their romance and what they went through, but there is so much more to this book. Kim touches on a mental disorder called Narcissistic Personality disorder, that Dani's mom suffered from. She did an amazing job with the information, by giving us just enough so we were informed and not too much so we were over our heads. She showed what this disorder did to the entire family including Dani's four brothers in such a heartfelt and loving way. Dani and Ben's romance started when they were younger, and Dani broke his heart. Now that they are on the farm together again Ben finds his heart still belongs to Dani but he is afraid to let her own it. Dani feels her heart being pulled to Ben, but with her leaving for NY shortly and with all the secrets about her mom coming out she feels very messed up. She can't give her heart to Ben can she? This book will make you laugh and cry. It pulls at your heartstrings in every way and I didn't want to put it down. I think everyone will enjoy this book and I do hope that there will be more from this Cherry Farm, maybe Dani's brothers will get their own stories.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my unbiased review. I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book, a new series by Kim Law. To get to the heart of it? I am SO looking forward to what I hope to be a long series! Dani Wilde is such an amazing woman. She has a family of protective males that she thinks SHE keeps in line but the truth of her family dynamic is the heart of this story. What an amazing family it is and they are who I hope we read more about in future books. Ben Denton. He is a friend to Dani’s brother however he has been out of town/out of their lives for a while and comes back to town with a [news to him] four-year-old daughter that has just been left on his doorstep. He feels pretty overwhelmed trying to know how to reach this special little girl and the Wilde family – especially Dani – is just what both father and daughter need. What a great story, about family dynamics and painful pasts. It isn’t a light and fluffy story. Instead, it is deep and thoughtful. I started it one evening and read straight thru til 3 AM the next day. Yes, I had a book hangover but this story is so worth it. I really liked this book and was so involved in the struggles of all the characters and am happy I was able to read it. Can’t wait for more, that’s for sure!

Another winner by Kim Law... Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I am a fan of Kim Law and was excited to receive this book and to be given a chance to review it. I expected it to be similar to other books of hers that I have read but found it to be atypical of those books. The book deals with the sensitive issue of mental illness but this does not become evident until several chapters into the book. Dani Wilde is the only girl in a family of 6 siblings and she took over the role of caring for her younger brothers when their mother died in a car accident. She gave up her goal of moving to New York City to go to school in order to become the “woman of the household.” Now that her brothers are adults and have moved on with their lives, Dani has an opportunity to pursue that dream and move to New York. But as the time for her to leave grows closer, she begins to question her motives for moving and she wonders if she is doing the right thing. Complicating the matter is the presence of Ben who was a big part of her life in the past and who is making her wonder how she really feels about him and his daughter. Secrets are revealed and Dani is shaken to the core by what she discovers about her family. The book is well written and I found myself being drawn into the dynamics of the Wilde family. It is not a happy-go-lucky “boy meets girl.. boy gets girl… boy loses girl...kind of romance.” But is rather, a story of self- discovery.. of healing.. of forgiving… and of loving.

Montana Cherries is a great book. The story is not easy to tell. Kim Law tells a story that deals with a mental illness and how it affects a family. The fallout from this illness is disastrous to everyone in the family. I do not have much experience with mental illness but I do know that Montana Cherries is told with dignity, grace, and understanding to all those who have to deal with this in their real lives. I felt for Dani. She grew up with distorted memories of her deceased mother. These memories haunt her and make her strive to do everything possible to make her mother happy. Unfortunately for Dani these memories made her give up her life to play “mother” to her brothers. I wanted her to go to New York, I was ecstatic when she did go, and even happier at what happen while she was there. By dealing with the past she was able to move on with her life and find her future. Ben, oh alpha, sexy Ben. I was his biggest fan. Ben needed to figure out how to win Dani. I truly believe that they are the perfect (or as close to perfect as can be)couple. Ben proved himself to me again and again with how he dealt with his adorable daughter, Haley. Men like him are rare. The respect, love, and understanding that he showed Dani and her entire family made him a real man in my eyes. I cannot end this review without talking about the location. I have never been to Montana, yet I could picture the ranch, the towns, and the beach as Kim Law described them. I want to live in the house with all the rooms, windows, deck, and family that Dani learned to love again in. I want to see the area that Ben and Haley put roots down in. Montana Cherries played like a movie to me. I could hear the characters, see the scenery, and feel the emotions as I read. Definitely pick up this book. You will not be sorry.

An incredible story of a woman looking for balance in her life. Balance between the needs of her family and her own personal needs as well as balance between her memories of her deceased mother and the harsh reality of how things really were. To add to the crazy that has become her life is the rekindled feelings she has for Ben Denton. He has recently returned to Montana with his young daughter. While her feelings for Ben are strong, can she give up her dream again?? A wonderfully written story that is incredibly emotional and heartwarming while it takes a look at the emotional turmoil the family of the mentally ill contend with. While only touching on the tip of the iceberg of that issue, it is beautifully done and definitely gets one thinking. This is a book that needs to be on everyone's must read list. I highly recommend it!

When I started this book I figured it was going to be just another romance book, and I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that because I love a good romance novel.... but WOW... this book had so much more. The story line & depth of characters are just amazing. I finished this book & was sad to say goodbye. I will be reading more books by Kim Law ASAP. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
