About the Author
Nathan and Jennifer visited Moscow together in January of 1992 — Nathan's first visit and Jennifer's second, having been to Moscow and St. Petersburg in 1988. They stayed in a typical suburban apartment with a Russian family while studying for a month. It was their first experience of a Russian winter, with its freezing temperatures and thick blanket of snow, and their first taste of Russian home cooking and hospitality. After several more long-term stays and despite the difficulties and challenges, the experience proved addictive and they made the leap to permanent residents in January of 1998; first in St. Petersburg for a year and now in Moscow.
In their jobs as journalists and editors at The Moscow Times, the city's premier English-language daily newspaper, Nathan and Jennifer covered everything from real estate to restaurants. They have both edited bilingual books — Jennifer produced The Moscow Times' 10th anniversary photo book "Reflections" and Nathan compiled and edited the first Moscow Times' Moscow Dining Guide.
Nathan and Jennifer are the creators and founding editors of the lifestyle and entertainment magazine G!O. They previously worked as editors of The Moscow Times' City Wise section; more recently they have they joined Moscow's English-language weekly, The Moscow News. They updated Fodor's latest guide to Moscow & St. Petersburg. Nathan and Jennifer know Moscow inside-out and feel like it has always been their home — but they still remember how it feels to step onto Red Square for the first time. They have come to love the city, yet Petersburg still has a special place intheir hearts as the city they first fell in love with.
