Overview

From bestselling author Thea Harrison comes the first in an explosive new trilogy set in the Elder Races world....

Her past is a blank, her future uncertain....

Recovering from a shooting, LAPD witch consultant Sophie Ross leaves her job and travels to the U.K. to search for answers about her childhood. When she encounters a Daoine Sidhe knight of the Dark Court, she becomes entangled in an ancient hatred between two arcane forces.

He has given his body and soul to fight for his people....

Barred from his homeland along with his surviving brother knights, Nikolas Sevigny is embroiled in a conflict that threatens everything he holds dear. Only by uniting his people's resources can they hope to prevail against Isabeau, the deadly Queen of the Light Court. He will do anything and use anyone to return home to Lyonesse.

When Nikolas encounters Sophie, he sees a tool to be used. The insouciant witch might be the key to unlocking every passageway that has been barred to the knights of the Dark Court, even as a fascination for her takes root in what's left of his soul.

Sophie has no intention of becoming anyone's pawn, yet the fierce Nikolas is so compelling, she can't deny the temptation that endangers her guarded heart.

As magic threatens Lyonesse, Queen Isabeau unleashes her merciless Hounds, and Nikolas and Sophie become embroiled in a race for survival. Meanwhile, the passion that ignites between them burns too hot to be denied and quickly turns into obsession.

Thank goodness they both know better than to fall in love...

Totally unfair to give 1 or 0 stars, when the problem isn't the book, it was a technical glitch with BN that was quickly fixed. The book itself is excellent!

Love Sophie and Nikk, can't wait for stories featuring more of the Dark Knights. Sophie is a strong minded, gifted woman who doesn't back down. Unique challenges and gifts in these fascinating cast of characters.

This was the first book I've read by this author, and I enjoyed it. The heroine was smart and capable, and had great banter with the hero. I plan on getting the next book in the series when it comes out.

Great characters and story. At first had some trouble with the preordered file but BN fixed it quickly so no longer an issue. If you are a fan of this series I highly recommend.

Sophie, a survivor with no knowledge of her birth family, has physical injuries and a future that's dependent on her magical abilities. Nikolas, the Commander of the Dark Fae forces, has survived countless battles but lost his decency and humanity in the process. They collide in a vision, then meet in person weeks later under less than ideal circumstances. Throw in a lost puck, malevalent werewolves, and a crazy house that's not entirely in this dimension and you have the basis for "Moonshadow". Despite sometimes dire happenings, the humor throughout kept me tearing up in laughter. Sophie's inner monologue is hysterical. Her insights about Nik and his lost knights are beautiful and heartbreaking. It's easy to delight in Sophie and Nik, but I think I fell in love with all the lost knights. The blurb tells us this is a planned trilogy and I can only hope we'll see more of Gawain and the other knights in future stories. While this is a spin-off of the Elder Races series, no prior knowledge of that series is needed.

Love a story with a strong women who knows what she wants, and that is the Moonshadow book.

Wow I loved this book! The heroine is a modern woman who knows her own mind, can defend herself physically and magically and has a few new tricks to teach a Dark Fae warrior cut off from his home. I also liked all the tie ins to the other elder races books. If you like strong feisty women and alpha men you'll love this book as much as I did. If you haven't read the other books I urge to start with the first, DRAGON BOUND and read them all, you'll be glad you did.

Get your Story following this process: 1. Archive your partial book. 2. Restart your nook. 3. Unarchive the book and re-sync your library. I went from 11 pages to 287 pages with this process. I hope it works for you guys!

Dark, Edgy, Sexy I loved Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series and while this book is a spin-off to that series, you don’t need to have read it to read and enjoy this book. Thea weaves humor, suspense, and strong sexual tension into all of her books seamlessly, creating strong characters and fast paced plots with layers that I enjoy reading over and over. In Moonshadow, Sophie is a paranormal witch consultant with the police department, focusing on magical crimes. After a bust gone wrong, she is injured and on leave, trying to figure out what to do with the rest of her life (and dealing with PTSD), when she is contacted about an inheritance of an estate in England. Not knowing her past, she jumps at the chance to learn about her parents and to find a purpose in her life. On her journey, she meets a Daoine Sidhe Knight of the Dark Court, in exile and desperately trying to get back to his court and save his people. Nikolas has been fighting for centuries with his fellow knights, watching their numbers dwindle as the Light Court pick them off and feeling the despair and the way to the Dark Court has been cut off. Sensing Sophie’s estate might be a route to their homeland and Sophie herself a tool to help them in their fight, he allies himself with her in his battle even as he fights against the sexual attraction he has for her. Sophie is a strong woman who resists being used as a pawn in anyone’s game, even as she sympathizes with Nikolas and his fellow knights’ plight. She agrees to help but refuses to be used or manipulated, even as her own feelings arise for the steadfast knight. Amidst battles and chases and betrayals, Nikolas and Sophie battle the Light Court, each other and themselves in their struggle for who they are and who they want to be in their world. I loved the darker tone of this book. There was humor in it but the overall tone of the story was edgier and darker due to the subject matter. The characters were deep and flawed but well -rounded. The development of the story flowed great, although the beginning took a little while to get going. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the ending made my heart skip a beat. I loved it and can’t wait for more books in the series!
