Overview

More Than a Cowboy by Susan Hornick

The identity of her daughter's father is a secret, one that single mother Haley Clayton must keep forever—for a very good reason. But when a tragedy takes the man's life—a tragedy Haley fears was her fault—the truth comes out. And now the man's stepbrother, handsome rancher Jared Sinclair, wants answers. Why has Haley kept the child from his family? What is she hiding? Haley can't tell him—ever. But then Jared insists Haley and young Sarah spend time at the family ranch, where she discovers he's not just a proud cowboy; he's her—and her daughter's— deepest wish.

All about suffering and healing and forgiveness (with God's help). Great story.

As an inspirational read, the characters of Jared Sinclair and his family are walking very close with God.  Jared is human however, and suffers the loss of his stepbrother tremendously and he takes to seeking the why into his own hands.   Hayley Clayton had some hard knocks in life and although she is no longer close to God, her heart is full of questions as to why he failed her in her bleakest hour.   These characters were written so strongly and you felt their pain and agony as the story progressed. The plot was simple and has been used repeatedly, but it was a book so well written, I enjoyed the story and found it refreshing and fun.    The book required nothing more of me than to enjoy it for what it was.
