In his first novel, 'Morning Gravity', Gregory Maddigan hits a hole in one with his believable, vulnerable main character, Gordon Clearman. The book opens with Gordon beginning his freshman year in a new school, a Catholic high school. He is a fatherless young man who is torn between the allure of teenage yearning and becoming a priest. His relationships with his friends and his coming of age while putting together the missing pieces of his life makes for an honest, well written novel. This book harkens us all back to those turbulent years of wondering and exploring how we fit into the larger world. I hope this is the first of many books from Mr. Maddigan. As an avid reader and collector of first novels, I will place this book on my 'favorite' shelf.
