About the Author

Author Susan Roth is a direct descendant of the Baal Shem Tov ("Master of the Good Name"), the founder of the Hasidic movement, through his great-grandson, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, Kabbalist and scholar, and of the first Lubavitcher Rebbe, Shneur V. Zalman of Liadi.

She has studied Kabbalah since she was 17 when metaphysicians in Safed, Israel, introduced her to its mystical lore. After undergraduate studies in philosophy and comparative religion, Ms. Roth attended Princeton University as a Woodrow Wilson Scholar. Later, she earned a Master of Arts degree in Perennial Philosophy through Kabbalah from New York University.
