School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 3 Large color pencil illustrations and easy piano arrangements with guitar chords are the attractions in this collection of 28 nursery rhymes set to music. However, the first- and second-year piano students who will be most thrilled by the ease of playing the songs may already be too sophisticated to want to perform ``The Mulberry Bush. '' Younger chanteurs who have parental accompanists may wish for jazzier harmonies and rhythms. Harrop's Sing Hey Diddle Diddle (Sterling, 1984) is more interesting musically, includes 66 tunes and is only slightly more difficult. Still larger in scale are Elizabeth Porter's The Baby's Song Book (Crowell, 1972; o.p.) and Inez Bertail's The Complete Nursery Song Book (Lothrop, 1966; o.p.). Nevertheless, this can be used where there is a huge population of beginning piano artists. Dana Whitney Pinizzotto, The Parish Day School of the Church of the Transfiguration, Dallas
