Overview

Mountain Man by Jules Barnard

My cheating ex has me swearing off men.

Until Lewis comes along, stealing my breath and my good sense.

I've never been one to lust after guys. My mother's revolving door of relationships doused any propensity I might have had long ago. But Lewis is six and a half feet of rugged mountain man, and he's...eye-catching. Sexy. Silently brooding in all the best ways.

The more time I spend with him, the more naughty thoughts I have of us together, and he's not helping put a stop to it. It's infuriating.

I'm fantasizing, and lusting, and I can't remember why I wanted to stay away.

But Lewis carries his own relationship baggage. Baggage that could break me in ways no ex-boyfriend ever did.

Despite the safe, logical reasons I shouldn't get involved, Lewis might be the one man I can't resist.

This hot, romantic comedy will have you intermittently fanning yourself and laughing at Lewis's sexy approach at convincing Gen they're right for each other. Grab Mountain Man now!

EXCERPT:

He tugs down his shorts--and goes completely naked.

"Um?"

He glances up. "You can stay in your panties. I'm getting clean... What? I trust you not to grope me." He grins.

4.5 Stars. It took me a couple of chapters to get into Blue Crush, but once I did, I was in all the way. Gen is somewhat annoying at times, but Lewis more than makes up for it. He’s H.O.T. hot – one of the sexiest guys to cross my pages in a long time. The heat is intense without being overt and the relationship develops slowly while achieving a heart-pounding pace. How is that possible? I’m not sure, but I just know that Jules Barnard has managed to pull it off. Plot The plot is a little different from other NA books I’ve read. For one, it’s not a straight out romance. Gen is tired of being pushed around, particularly by men. Her mother is a lousy role-model, her ex-boyfriend a total douchebag, and her new job makes her the target of every lecherous man in the greater Lake Tahoe area. It doesn’t help that one of the executives at the casino where waitresses thinks she’s available for anything and everything he wants. She runs into Lewis who gets her blood pumping in a way no guy ever has. But there’s one little problem – there’s another girl in the way. The nature of his relationship with this other girl is murky at best. When Gen decides to step out of her comfort zone and sign up for the Alpine Mudder Run, Lewis volunteers to help her train and sparks fly. When it comes to whether or not she can control her raging hormones around this delicious slice of man candy, all bets are off. A series of well-developed subplots are woven into the main plot, making this far more than your average NA romance. Characters While Gen can be a bit hard to take at times, but she has her likeable points, too. She’s a loyal friend, works her ass off, and she does have boundaries. She respects herself and others, and wants to do the right thing. And Lewis is perfection wrapped up in the prettiest paper on the planet. The supporting cast are not fluff, but remarkably well developed and do more than provide background scenery. Bottom Line I thoroughly enjoyed Blue Crush. It’s steamy, romantic, and at times funny. I may have just found my new favorite NA author in Jules Barnard.

I received a copy of the ePub in exchange for an honest review from Goodreads R4R group. The main characters in Blue Crush are not new to the readers of the Blue Series as Gen and Lewis were introduced in the first book Deep Blue. As Gen is working at a casino in Lake Tahoe for the summer she meets Lewis. The attraction is immediate but she is not emotionally ready to move on. And Lewis has issues that must be addressed as well. It is an interesting read as it is from Gen’s point of view. The novel gives insight into her past and she shares so much about her past with the reader. She is determined to overcome her insecurities and enters a challenging ‘mudder race’. Lewis is also participating in the race and they begin training together. Of course, they deny the sparks. Gen is much stronger than she gives herself credit for and truly is a survivor. A most enjoyable read—the plot keeps the reader turning the pages to discover what will happen next. You can’t help but want these two characters together.  Looking forward to book 3 in the series.
