- Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), opera, K. 492: Overture
- Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550
- Symphony No. 41 in C major ("Jupiter"), K. 551
Jane Glover recorded Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550"; the "Symphony No. 41 in C major, K. 551"; and the "Overture to Le nozze di Figaro" with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1993; while her mainstream interpretations sound perfectly acceptable by modern recording standards, they hardly seem to merit being part of a special audiophile collection, as touted on this Allegro reissue. Glover is known for her serious scholarship in Baroque and Classical repertoire and fine performances with such groups as the London Mozart Players and the Chicago-based ensemble Music of the Baroque, but one should not expect that her renditions of these popular works are delivered with much period style or color. The RPO is tasteful in expression and clean in technique, but the instruments are apparently modern, the orchestra's size is standard, and the execution is not especially marked by historical practice. That being said, anyone looking for an affordable CD that has solid performances of these pieces will be reasonably satisfied with this disc. Audiophiles, however, should not expect anything more than clean and focused sound quality.
