Hot, short story that will keep you coming back to K Webster's writing again and again!
Favorite Quote: Love is an animal you must capture and keep. Name it and own it. Allow yourself these things… My Review: Sizzle and snap, I wasn’t paying attention and had no idea what I was in for when I started this saucy little story, oh, my! Mr. Blakely was a freshly betrayed and divorced father of teenaged twin boys and in dire need of domestic help. His sons were not adapting as well as he had hoped and were in need of tutoring as well as attention and supervision after school and in the evenings while he was working late at his business or wooing clients. He was given Ava’s name and number and told she was a smart and helpful tutor, and the lovely young woman named Ava was hired to do just that the same day. A lovely young woman that stirred something deep and impossible as she was sweet and kind and an innocent eighteen-year-old high school senior and he was… significantly older than that, like twenty-five years older than that. Given the common porno premise, I was bracing myself for cheesy or creepy, thankfully, it wasn’t. Other than a few cringe-worthy scenes this was actually a sweet and thoughtful romance with lots of naughty bits and a little bit of high school drama. There was an interesting and engaging plot with supportive relationships established among all the characters after a bit of a rocky start. Ava took good care of his sons and succeeded where Mr. Blakely could not as they improved in school as well as in their family interactions. She studied French and was working toward saving for a trip to France, he softly spoke French endearments to her, bought her gifts including a car to ferry his sons home from school, and other trinkets, as she was always on his mind, as he was on hers. Mr. Blakely took special care of Ava, much better than her own family had, and after hours he tutored her in all manner of adult culinary games like hiding the sausage and eating the pickle. And it worked out very well for them, very well indeed.
**4 Stars*** Ahhhh...Mr. Blakely did my taboo/smut loving heart good and gave me one heck of surprise when I finally figured out where I’d met some of the characters previously. (The FINALLY came in the epilogue *rolling my eyes at myself* I think I read too many books *smirk*). But, I really enjoyed Mr. Blakely and Ava. Mr. Blakely is all kinds of Alpha AF male who comes across as a huge disciplinarian, but is a little more soft and bendy underneath all the sternness. Ava is hardworking and determined to achieve the goals she has set for herself. There is an aura of naivete about her, but she isn’t totally clueless. As for their romance. Older man/younger girl (she is 18) & boss/employee. And while the attraction was insta, things took a little while to develop, but as this is a quick read, it didn’t take that long for them to act on their impulses and talk about going all kinds of Alpha AF. The funny thing with them is that despite all of the reasons why they shouldn’t work, they did. They balanced each other out and I just really liked them together. If you don’t know, or hadn’t guessed, I’m a fangirl of the authors, so I was more than happy to jump down the rabbit hole to get lost in this one. What I didn’t see coming were the connections to her other stories, one in particular had me going to GR to confirm it and I ended up giving myself a mental Gibbs slap for not figuring it out sooner, especially since I adored that particular story, and kinda had me wanting to do a re-read of it. So if you’re looking for a quick taboo read, then this is a must click! ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley & voluntarily reviewed ~
Quinn, the strict, domineering and always in control male will finally see all his control unravel because of his new young and innocent nanny. Ava, the bookworm who does nothing but study at hopes of receiving a scholarship to college has finally met the one man that can take her focus away from her goals. She’ll soon learn that Quinn doesn’t want to crash her dreams, but help her to achieve them. The queen of taboo brought us another delicious older man/younger woman sizzling story between Quinn, 40ish and Ava, 18. This is probably one of the best tease books I’ve read in a while. I actually love that K. Webster had Quinn not give in right away. Instead he played with fire until he just couldn’t resist anymore. It built up the chemistry between these two until you think you’re going to combust just reading it! I love that the author incorporated characters from some of her books into Quinn and Ava’s world. It makes me want to go back and re-read all their books. Loved this! ARC provided by NetGalley.
I should’ve realized this was a “romancing the babysitter” book from the blurb, but… I didn’t (whoops). While the age difference didn’t really bother me that much (he’s 43 and she’s 18, a senior in high school), the power differential had the potential to be problematic for me. However, I felt like the consent issues were handled well. “’Hey, Quinn,’ he calls out as I start for the door. I turn to see him watching me with furrowed brows. ‘You don’t have to be in control of everything always. It’s okay to not know what the f*** is going on or how to fix it.’ My shoulders stiffen and I crack my neck. ‘Having complete control is the only thing that keeps me sane these days.’ I need it. My life. My family. My job. Everything is planned, everything has rules and parameters, everything has consequences.” After his divorce, Quinn Blakely hates to admit he needs help, but there’s no way he can run his successful advertising business and take care of his two sons at the same time. He reluctantly asks a friend for a babysitter recommendation, and soon Ava Prince is sitting on his doorstep with her AP Pre-calc homework. From the first, they’re both attracted to each other, but they both realize it’s taboo and try to fight their feelings. There’s a lot of things separating them – their age difference, the fact that he’s her boss and she’s the babysitter, that she’s still in high school and doesn’t even have a car, and that he’s rich while she lives in a trailer park with her mom. They also have a lot of things in common – they’re both driven to excel at their jobs (or school), both exceptionally hard workers, and they both have a thing for Paris. “Suddenly, I very much know what I’d like to do for fun. Him.” The sex scenes were hot, especially since they have a d/s thing going on. It takes a while (nearly forever in a book this short) for them to finally give in to their feelings, but the tension was excellent. As for cons, I thought the easy acceptance of their relationship by Quinn’s sons wasn’t particularly realistic, though I did enjoy Ava’s interactions with them. I can’t imagine my 14-year-old self being ok with my dad hooking up with someone from my own school! Overall, this was a quick, sexy read – exactly as advertised! I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
3.5 stars. I'm torn between a 3 and a 4 star. I think it's not one of my favs in the taboo treat world K has created but overall I liked it. I think the ex wife could have been written out completely. Now I wonder if some of these other characters mainly Mr. Blakely's friends are getting stories too. Which I'm sure they will. It's funny how I think River or Lacy mention that the men in this town like their women young. I was just thinking is there some fever going around lol? Looking forward to more of Ks work.
When Quinn’s wife leaves him to chase her dreams he is left with two teenage boys that need more than he can give them. Upon a recommendation, he contacts Ava and sets up an appointment to discuss a job as babysitter – a term his sons take exception to. Ava is smart and independent and she has a plan of what she wants to do with her future. The first thing is to save enough money for her school’s summer trip to Paris. The job for Quinn Blakely should provide enough to do so. However, when these two meet the sparks fly and the chemistry between them can’t be ignored. But Quinn attempts to do so until the longing for the sweet and beautiful woman is more than he can hold back any longer. This is a fast paced novella dealing with the taboo topic of older man and babysitter. I didn’t realize that going in and was afraid I might end up with a whiny teenage heroine but that was not the case. Ava was so mature and she brought a peace to Quinn that he had never experienced before. This is light on the drama and heavy on the steam and actually quite enjoyable.
