Reviewed by Michelle Stanley for Readers' Favorite Mr. Boggarty and the Haunted Hospital is a children’s adventure story by Tevin Hansen. Trixie, Darby, and Darren were excited to assist elderly Mr. Boggarty and his siblings entertain sick children on Halloween night. But they didn’t know the hospital was haunted by a troublesome boy named Hoo. Strange things happen while the Boggartys perform “The Headless Ballerina” for the sick children. The lights go out, hideous giant spiders and other creepy creatures appear, including the Australian Bunyip! The three friends are terrified, especially when the Boggartys disappear. While trying to escape, they find a traumatized Mrs. Boggarty-Carlson attached to a life support machine, covered in an eerie blue glow, chanting nonsense. Could this be the antics of Hoo, the boy watching them? Protect yourself to meet the scary Bunyip or the purple glowing Hoo in Tevin Hansen’s Mr. Boggarty and the Haunted Hospital. It’s Book 2 in the thrilling adventure series, written for kids in the 3rd to 6 grades. I loved the sharp-tongued sense of humour the Boggartys possessed, as well as Darby, who promotes his country with the stories he likes sharing. I also like the setting which takes place in a hospital. It’s a thoughtful gesture from Tevin Hansen to dedicate this book to sick children who are unable to Trick or Treat on Halloween Night. This is an entertaining story that will give pre-teens goosebumps as they follow Trixie, Darren and Darby outrunning creatures in the Halloween adventure to the end. "Keep calm and scare on.”
