Alanis is thankfully one of those singers that doesn't write about all those cute, sweet little things. True, some of her songs are angry and accusing, but she sings about the real world! Alanis is one of those few people that know what the real world is all about! I am another one of those people, and my poems are sometimes angry as well. Some of them turn out to be extremely successful, I might add! ;-) This CD is the best! The first time I listened to it, I was first drawn to the unique style of the tunes and beat. Then I began to read and to listen to her lyrics! She really puts forth a lot of effort, and a lot of thought goes into those songs! I truly believe she has the power..the power to WIN!

I love this album. It's great when I'm sad or when I'm stressed or when I'm po'd. I love her voice and the toned down music really brings her out. I'm such a lyric person though that I always listen to the singer more than the music. I will say that the notes (both vocal and instrumental) are a unique use of sharps/flats (she must love the chromatic scale). I've been a AM fan from the beginning because she's just her. AM's music is not for the shallow or the person who doesn't listen to the lyrics; this album escpecially was made to focus on AM's voice. Try listening to this album when you're stress/ticked and see if you don't feel better afterwords. It works like a charm for me everytime.

This is a great album. Alanis is definitely one of those few music performers that can do a great job playing live. For YOU OUGHTA KNOW, she takes her rage and hatred out of the song and replaces it with sadness which was remarkable considering that it was written to be a hateful song. Songs like UNINVITED and JOINING YOU don't really sound that much different as like a few other songs on this album. Another plus to this album is that there are 4 songs that Alanis performs that aren't on either Jagged Little Pill or Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. I recommend this to anyone who is an Alanis fan.
