In this exciting sequel to Mud Run, Matt and his teammates are disappointed when their favourite track coach, Ms. Wellesley, tells them she can no longer lead the school team. On the bright side, she has arranged for the kids to be trained by the coach of the Riders— dream team of elite athletes who have the potential to become "real" runners. But is there such a thing as too much, too soon? Mud Happens is about learning how to pace one's self—in the race and in life.

This pre-teen book is great for kids because it doesn¿t have a hard vocabulary. It¿s a great book for kids that like to participate in track or just like to run. The book doesn¿t have any pictures though. The book shows a little bit about a middle school boy. It¿s a great book for kids who are between the ages of 10-13. The author put different emotions in the main character Matt. Matt is a boy who is very competitive. He has this crush on a girl on his track team whose name is Ashley. He likes to test himself to his limits and sometimes past it. The story¿s conflict is his track club was closed because of the school board and safety rules. The book would be great for pre-teens because it setting is in a middle school and it doesn¿t have a difficult vocabulary.
