Muddy Roads: Old-Time Music Of Clarence Ashley & Doc Watson based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
David Grisman is most famous for his “dawg music”, a mixture of bluegrass and jazz he pioneered with his David Grisman Quintet that became one of the roots of the new acoustic genre. Grisman is also devoted to the old timey and bluegrass music that led him into performing. On this set his plays with a group he calls the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience. They play the old songs Doc Watson and his neighbor Clarence Ashley introduced to the outside world a half century ago. The sound is faithful to the originals, but Grisman and company stretch the tunes out a bit without comprising their traditional ancestry. Any fan of Doc Watson should check this project out. You can imagine him sitting in with his old friend Dawg and the band, smiling gently. You might also want to check out the recordings they made together.
