Working undercover has taken former New York City police detective Nick Desmond to Ballybronagh, where he plans to gather enough evidence to take down his father’s killer. But it isn’t long before Nick feels torn between his long-held yearning for revenge and his overwhelming desire for the beautiful schoolteacher. If he isn’t careful, his longing for Maggie will overtake him, generating repercussions that are far more dangerous than his original mission…

About the Author

This book was so amazing. I couldn't put it down. Maggie Mulligan was the beautiful Irish girl that fell in love with the handsome American; how perfect is that?

Maureen Fazzini was mother to one of New York City's slickest gangster with Mob connections, Angelo Fazzini Jr. When Angelo's wife died, Maureen let Angelo believe his one year old daughter, Erin, had too. Secretly, Maureen had Erin settled in one of Ireland's convents. Then for ten years, Maureen lived in New York and planned. ........... Nick Desmond was a former NYC vice cop. Thanks to Angelo, his father was dead and his family name was in ruins. Maureen offered him a deal. Nick would accompany her to Ireland for a year. The locals would believe he was Maureen's nephew. In truth he would be Maureen and Erin's bodyguard. At the end of the year she would give Nick all the evidence he needed to clear his father's name and put Angelo away. Once it was agreed on, Maureen faked her own death and they left. ........... Maggie Mulligan was the local school teacher in the area of Ballybronagh, Ireland. Her brother and his family lived in the family castle, Caisleán Dubh, which had recently been turned into a B&B and renamed 'Mulligan Stew'. Maggie preferred living in Mulligan Cottage nearby. The O'Sheas had just moved into the county and Maggie found herself attracted to sexy Nick. Romance bloomed. All was well except for the voices Nick and Maggie kept hearing. .......... It was said that in 1783 a witch named Sinéad had been overcome by sorrow due to the loss of a lass named Bronagh. Bronagh had killed herself when her love, Aidan, had married another. Sinéad had set a curse upon Caisleán Dubh and the Mulligan clan. .......... ***** I could not figure out a way to write that synopsis in a way that I liked. Yet I believe I got across the gist of everything without any spoilers. In Deb Stover's previous novel, Mulligan Stew, readers got the story of Bronagh and Aidan and the curse was broken. However, even though the curse was broken do not make the mistake of believing it all over. After all, setting a curse causes major consequences. When those consequences spring from the vivid imagination of Deb Stover, readers are guaranteed a spectacular story! BRAVA! *****

New York City police officer John Desmond was proud of his son Nick when he became a detective. Nick was assigned to a special task force to bring down the Fazzini Drug Empire, but everything went wrong. They killed his father in what the department claimed was a drive by shooting. Then the crime family planted evidence that Nick was on the take. Now Nick works as a private sleuth taking odd jobs including ¿rent a pig¿ assignments....................... Maureen Fazzini offers Nick an interesting deal. In exchange for proof he was not on the take and destroying her crime family, he protects her and her granddaughter while she fakes her death and they flee to Ballybronagh, Ireland. She wants the lass raised as far away as possible from the criminal activity of the family..................... Schoolteacher Maggie Malone returns to her hometown of Ballybronagh hoping to teach there, but instead learns the school might close. When Nick and Maggie meet, there is an immediate attraction but he cannot afford love to interfere with his quest that he believes he owes his father. However, both also hear whispers in the wind that frighten them yet makes them yearn for one another............... MULLIGAN MAGIC, the sequel to MULLIGAN STEW, is an exciting romantic suspense with some paranormal elements. The story line grips the audience as if Deb Stover cast a magical spell over them. Nick is a complex protagonist struggling with a myriad of emotions including guilt, anger, resentment, and now love. Maggie is a much simpler character, but provides a strong counterpoint. Together they captivate readers................ Harriet Klausner
