About the Author

Leb Alexander, who was born Caleb Alexander Christian, is a devout fitness enthusiast residing in Brooklyn where he was taught that the power of the individual is greater than that of the heard. Growing up in Nineties Brooklyn, where gangs, dilapidated housing, and random violence was prevalent, Leb found comfort and an outlet to purge his frustrations in calisthenics. He earned the nickname Black Spartan by the intensity of his workouts. Through these grueling sessions he procured the discipline, commitment and fervor it took to write. Coming from a home inundated with love and support allowed him to work on his craft, which forced him to undergo a thorough self-analysts, where he became more conscious to injustices and systemic oppression plaguing society particularly, communities of color. As a young boy, his parents introduced him to the classics. Immersing in a book opened a new world of possibilities for him. Life, as he saw it, was never boring again. His reading evolved as he matured. Some of his favorites are F. Scott Fitzgerald, James Baldwin, Donna Tartt, Jodi Picoult, Richard Wright, Harper Lee. His diverse taste in prose and his innate outrage from being aware of inequities, has primed his voice to have a cross-over appeal since he strongly adheres to telling the whole story even if he may disagree. Leb first tapped into the power he possessed to stimulate and provoke with words in 2003, when he started a blog on MySpace, building a cult following. It was his raw brash style that roused his critics. The topics he tackled were complexities of the human spirit, marginalized communities, inner city violence, infidelity and the trauma of being different in a stagnated world. His undying mission is to illuminate those living on the edge of darkness since he, too, lives on the edge as an artist, seeking truth. His writings are predicated on three key objectives: inspiring, to entertaining, and informing.
