What a fun read. Humor surrounds India as she investigates the murder of a local craft artist. Along for the ride are members of her family with overbearing Carmen and her civic-minded parents. Ina, her neighbor, lends a hand to the investigation in a way only Ina can. The author did a good job of stringing me along as to the identity of the killer. The witty conversations and the supporting cast of eccentrically quirky characters were delightfully entertaining in this fast-moving mystery and with that ending; I can’t wait for the next book in this wonderful series.

In this sequel to Amanda Flower’s Maid of Murder, India Hayes again finds herself in strange garb. This time, India’s sister has convinced her to wear an American colonial outfit while face painting at the local college’s fair. India continues to be a wonderfully quirky character with a terrific sense of humor. Even when she stumbles over the dead body of a fellow artist, her good humor does not completely fail her. Accompanied by an elderly neighbor dressed in Irish Green, India sets out to solve the murder. The book has the same accompanying cast as the first book, including India’s endearing hippy parents. Laugh out loud moments are coupled with moments of tense suspense. This book is charming, funny, and an all-around great cozy read. A surprise ending makes me anxious to read the next installment of this series. Highly recommended for lovers of quality light reading.
