There are few environments as testosterone-laden as the Police Force, at least in the popular gay imagination! What gay boy has not imagined a romp in the hay with an officer of the law?! But, it would also appear that this same environment can also be very unforgiving and homophobic, well, at least for the hero of Murder Most Gay, an erotic crime novel by John Simpson.

Pat St. James is a rookie cop, fresh from the Police Academy, who is assigned to solving the bizarre murder of gay men in what appears to be the work of twisted serial killer. As if though this not enough of a challenge, Pat is gay himself, trying to keep his head above water in a very stifling homophobic environment, where he is quite firmly in the closet.

As the killer becomes more active, Pat, with another closeted gay rookie, Hank, go undercover (pardon the pun), hanging out at gay bars, posing as gay men (in a supreme twist of irony) in order to try and solve the murders and catch the killer.

As the body count escalate, so does the tension in Pat¿s life as he tries to manage his career and his love life, while, all the while, trying to catch the serial killer on the loose! Once again, Mr. Simpson manages to pull off the delicate balance between the erotic and the action elements of his novel.

There is enough of each to keep your blood racing throughout the novel. Fans of the crime novel genre won¿t be disappointed either, as this fast-paced novel will keep you on the edge of your seat! Those of us with a ¿man-in-the-uniform¿ fantasy won¿t be disappointed either, as there is plenty of sizzling action between Pat, Hank and some very hot guys, without it feeling like nothing more than an erotic thriller.

Mr. Simpson, with his inside knowledge of the world of the men in blue, transports us into a world of action, adventure, lust, drama and, yes, even romance!

Murder Most Gay is the ideal summer read for those lazy, laid-back days when you would like something easy to read while on holiday at the beach!

I praise John Simpson for writing a novel that has a strong Gay character that can solidify the Gay Community as an integral part of society. Patrick St. James is all-man and he can make the police force proud from his aspiration to be the best cop he can be. The trysts between Pat St. James with Bill, Hank Capstone, and Dean will make any Gay man breathless and want to fantasize about making out with a cop. I had to laugh how John Simpson stereotyped the police with having them stop at Dunkin' Donuts. Corporal David Flanders is homophobic and Pat St. James loved to ridicule him and put him in his place whenever Flanders would utter a bigoted remark. There is a Gay Cinderella story involved when Dean surprises Pat St. James one night when he drives him to New York for a lavish dinner at Tavern on the Green and later with a suite at the Waldorf Astoria. The Milford gang of religious fanatics who are targeting Gays with deadly consequences finally meet their most deserved punishment. "Murder Most Gay" is an excellent novel.
