I have read all this author's fiction books and I am left wanting more. This book was no exception. Not only was it just as good as the preceding works, I made the mistake of starting to read it one evening. At about 3.00 am the next morning I had finished the book. I was totally unable to put it down. So why? The characters are so well-crafted and so very real. They aren't black or white, good or evil, but many shades and levels in between. My favorite character has to be Nicky, the reformed hit man. Yes, he is a killer, but no, he isn't bad. I'd call him Nemisis. Another aspect of enjoyment is the twists and turns of the plot. I love guessing, but found myself turned round and about so much that I didn't see the end coming. Magnificent! There is a wonderful familiarity with the settings and I can feel the heart of Little Italy permeating through the chapters. There is a rich vibrancy unmatched by anything else I have read in this genre. I hope one day that someone has the sense to make these books into movies, because they should be on the silver screen.. In the meantime I shall look forward to the next book and may it come soon.

The characters are well crafted and the story has you from the first page to the final page. Bugs and the Rat have been friends all their lives. A cop and a hit man teach us the meaning of friendship. The story of family, friendship and hoping to solve murders give us excitement from page 1 until the end. I have read all of Giacomo's books and can't wait for the next one.

Murder Takes Patience is the third book in Giacomo Giammatteo’s riveting Friendship and Honor Series. Brooklyn Detective, Frankie Donovan aka Bugs, lay unconscious and in critical condition after being stabbed several times. Dead bodies were turning up at an alarming rate with sick rhymes pinned to them. The Brooklyn Police Department was scrambling to piece together clues for answers, but was coming up empty.  Ten year old Alex Greene, Frankie Donovan’s semi-adopted son was devastated over the thought of possibly losing the only father figure he has ever known. So Alex placed a call to the one person the Detective told him, could always be counted on and trusted for help, Nicky Fusco aka Rat. Nicky Fusco, a reformed hit-man, was never actually convicted of the hideous crimes that took place a year ago, but everyone knew that he was the one responsible. Nicky Fusco’s reputation as a cold blooded and ruthless killer traveled up and down the East coast. No teenage boy dared to ask his beautiful daughter Rosa out on a date. She even found that she couldn’t be mugged! No one would go near her. Everyone feared Nicky Fusco. Even the mob in Delaware treated him with respect. However, Dominic Mancini, head of one of the mob families in Brooklyn, was not afraid of Nicky Fusco. He had spared Nicky’s life once because of Frankie Donovan. But Dominic Mancini does not forget, and Nicky had broken the rules. He had killed one of Dominic’s top men, so if Nicky ever came to NY again he was a dead man. Nicky had promised his wife Angie and God that his killing days were over. But that was before Alex’s call. How could he keep his promise and not go to NY to avenge his best friend? If he goes though, Angie will leave him. He also knows that the moment he steps foot on NY soil, he’s a marked man. Nicky hated to break his promise, but Frankie needed his help – and some people just needed killing. This crime thriller has several unexpected twists. There wasn’t a boring paragraph in the entire book. The dialogue between the detectives was engaging and witty. The characters were well-developed and the plot intriguing. I finished the book in one day, simply because I couldn’t put it down. I have read every crime thriller this author has written. Giacomo Giammatteo’s writing is sharp, tight and gripping. I highly recommend giving this book a read. You will not be disappointed.
