Reviewed by Jessyca Garcia for Readers' Favorite Murphy's Law and the Outdoorsman by Alex Danchanko Jr may be short, but it was very educational. In the book, Danchanko tells of some of the adventures he has had while fishing and hunting. There are twenty-nine short stories in the book and every single one is enjoyable. I really enjoyed reading Murphy's Law and the Outdoorsman. Danchanko is an excellent storyteller. From his first story, “Blackberries,” till his last, “The GPS,” I enjoyed every single one! The pictures that he included with each story is something I really loved. They made each story seem more real. I have always loved nature, but unfortunately parts of nature (the bugs) also love me a little too much. Danchanko’s stories teach people that in order to have a relationship with nature, you first have to learn how to respect it. In the story “Blackberries,” he reminds you to always be aware of your surroundings. You never know what is hiding in plain sight. In the story “Leapfrog,” the lesson is that you never know when nature will go against its own laws and do something that will surprise you. There are two things that I have learned from these stories. First, when fishing in the rain, always use a fiberglass fishing rod. Second, eels can and will bite. I am glad that I read this book. It was fun and now I have a yearning to go fishing. I hope that Danchanko continues to tell more of his stories. If you are a nature lover, then this is a book for you.
