In the 60's, when the Beatles devasted the States, only two groups resisted : the Beach Boys and the Four Seasons " of course the motown sound keeps alive ! ". Then something had to be doing to make the american proud high. Then along comes the Monkees. Not with the same inspiration, but also making cheers in the gals. Honest, clean, the four pals, make waves in all coutry and sometimes let the people proud of being the american answer of the Beatles. Of course it's just a dream, but the four boys make the young americans feels that instead crying the british invasion, a light in the end of the tunnel make them smiles with inocent lyrics, smooth and happy songs, the boys could be a shadow for the Beatles . And the people of this country could be happy and proud for a time. This collection bring us the best of the Monkees era. Monkeemania it's alive.

I was 10 years old when the Monkees debuted in 1966 with Last Train To Clarksville/Take a Giant Step climbing up to the top spot weeks before the show debuted. Many who love 60s music try to figure out was it the show that made the songs?? Or the songs that made the show? Kind of chicken or egg question here. Music Box is chocked full with all the best songs of Americas answer to the Beatles, dubbed the "Prefab Four," Included in this set are all the hits, plus many outtakes, songs that originally didn't make it to a record. The Monkees garnared the reputation of being "plastic" or "prefab" but it must of been some pretty tough stuff, these songs still sound great!!!!
