Sing. That's what I came to do.I was prepared to do just that until I walked into my audition and saw him. Tall, mysterious, and gorgeous to boot, he was sitting at the coaches' table with three others, ready to judge my performance, and decide my future. Yet, since I'd walked onto the stage, he continued to look at anything but me. So, I did the one thing I was there to do: sing. When I opened my mouth and let those words spill from my lips, he finally looked up. Those startling, dark eyes collided with mine with such intensity that I knew one thing for certain: I would never be the same.I am Layne Carter, newest contestant on Rising Star, the biggest singing competition on reality television. Nothing can stop me from giving this show my all. Not my horrible diva roommate. Not the fact that I'm terribly homesick and miss my family. And certainly not my uncontrollable growing attraction to my coach, Beau Tanner, award winning country superstar. Nothing will stand in my way.And I'm wrong.

Music Notes by Lacey Black, Oh my...This book was a four turn chair for me. A realty singing contest Rising Star on television with a hot judge and a single mom with major chemistry, against all the rules of the contest for judge and contestant to have a relationship, what more can you ask for in a great story. Lacey Black has written this book like you are in the audience watching, so you feel like you are in story with the characters. I grew to fall in love with Beau and Layne and wishing for them to get together. Beau is a new book boyfriend very much swoon worthy. Lacey also has the best quotes in this book that had my smiling and loving them. She also put throughout the story "note to self" of what not to do, which I also enjoyed. This is my first book by Lacey and I can't not wait to read the next book by her. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK IT IS WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book! Layne Carter hasn't been living her life to the fullest, only doing what's necessary for her and her son Eli to survive. Without her knowledge, her mom sends in an audition tape to the reality show Rising Star. Layne has always loved music and is even the opener for karaoke night at the bar where she works. Now with a big push, she's on her way to compete on the reality show. Beau Tanner is a hot, country music star and judge for Rising Star. His life consists of his music, touring and being a judge on the reality show. He never imagined a rocker chick would turn his world around. This story is like none other that I've read. The buildup of the story was great. The tension between the characters leapt off the pages. The ending was one I wouldn't have seen coming but I'm glad the author ended it the way she did. I have read all of her other books and am a huge fan of her work. This book is different from her River Bend series but no less enthralling and I was hooked before I was even 20% into it. Do yourself a favor and buy this book, you will not be disappointed.

Lacey Black continues to write fresh new characters with her latest book, Music Notes. I've read and loved dozens of rocker books. That genre never gets old for me, but this book adds some twists to that genre that had me quickly turning the pages. Instead of JUST the hero being the rock star, the heroine is her own musical force to be reckoned with, and she's trying to get her big break on a TV talent show called Rising Star (similar to The Voice). Hooking up with one of the judges is against the rules, but what happens when the attraction is too undeniable to resist? "Being in your presence isn't near enough. I need to touch you, and now that I've had a little taste, this is goin' to be the greatest struggle of my life." The angst and "almosts" are what had me turning the pages in the wee hours, and I was pleasantly surprised at seeing this book played out with 2 different endings. After reading both, I honestly can't tell which I loved more, but I loved getting a glimpse at the answer to "what if?" The "soundtrack" to this book is an eclectic combination of classic rock, pop, and country, and I loved re-listening to some old favorites while reading this book! This stand-alone book had it all and I haven't hesitated in recommending it to everyone!
