Trapped in the wrong time, she needs a knight in shining armor, but this damsel in distress might be the real savior.

A damsel in distress...

With a day planner attached to her hip, the last thing Katy Tolson wants is a romance that threatens her well-ordered life. She's set to marry the safe--but bland--guy, but something's not quite...right. A careless wish thrusts her through time into medieval Wales and into the arms of...

A knight in somewhat shining armor...

Sir Robert Beucol, half-Norman and half-Welsh, lives with the shame of his father's treason and vows to reclaim his family's holdings and thereby his honor. To prove himself to his king, he must be more Norman than a full-blooded Norman. What better way to show loyalty than to fight his mother's people? He has no desire to be sidetracked by the mysterious wench with pink toenails, peculiar habits, and passion smoldering behind her cool, collected exterior.

A rebellion that challenges both...

The Welsh uprising fits perfectly into Robert's plans. Katy's on the other hand? That's a no. As they embark on a perilous journey through the heart of Wales, each passionate encounter pulls them closer together, but farther from their goals. When everything they value is at stake, can they save each other and their love?

About the Author

Angela Quarles's debut novel MUST LOVE BREECHES swept many unpublished romance contests, including the Grand Prize winner of Windy City's Four Seasons contest in 2012. Angela loves history, folklore, and family history, and has been a hobby historian for twenty+ years. She decided to take her love of history and her active imagination and write stories of love and adventure for others to enjoy. When writing, she's either at her desk in the finished attic of an historic home in beautiful and quirky Mobile, AL, or at her fave spot at the local Starbucks. When she isn't writing, she's either working at the local indie bookstore or enjoying the usual stuff like gardening, reading, hanging out, eating, drinking, chasing squirrels out of the walls, and creating the occasional knitted scarf.

Angela has had a varied career, including website programming and directing a small local history museum. She's an admitted geek and is proud to be among the few but mighty Browncoats who watched Firefly the first night it aired. She was introduced to the wonderful world of science fiction by her father, by way of watching reruns of the original Star Trek in her tweens and later giving her a copy of Walter M. Miller Jr's A Canticle for Leibowitz as a teenager. She hasn't looked back since.

She has a B.A. in Anthropology and International Studies with a minor in German from Emory University, and a Masters in Heritage Preservation from Georgia State University. She was an exchange student to Finland in high school and studied abroad in Vienna one summer in college.

I thought this story was a beautiful follow up to the first release of this series. The characters are well developed amd the author did a great job of showing the challenges one would face if deposited into the past during a time when the spoken languages strongly differ from our modern day use. I love how this author describes the emotions her characters face. I also feel that this second novel shows a past that is often avoided due to it being set so far back in time. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend this book to anyone who, like me, is obsessed with time travel romance. This book had my heart racing in all the right ways.

I love time travel books, and this one had both a good plot and very likeable characters. I will definitely be looking for more books from this author.

A vividly-written, well-plotted, fast-paced, adventurous tale that mesmerized me from the first to the last! Must Love Chainmail by Angel Quarles is the second installment in the author’s outstanding Must Love time traveling historical romance series. It is the well-deserved 2016 RITA winner in the paranormal category. The initial premise is similar to that of Outlander – whereas a modern day woman finds herself transported into the past as Katy Tolson is transported to Wales in 1294 during the Welsh rebellion with Norman knight Sir Robert Beaucol. As this story begins, Katy is having a last fling with her girlfriends and having doubts that marriage to her fiancé is really what she wants. She unwittingly makes a wish while holding the same artifact used to time travel from the first book, a silver card case, and finds herself sent back seven hundred years into the arms of a knight in chainmail. Robert, our hero, is yummy. He exemplifies what a true honorable knight should be. He lives for the moment – never knowing what tomorrow might bring. His goal is to reclaim his family’s honor and lands. On the other hand, Katy is a planner – a control freak extraordinaire. She is unemotionally engaged to another man in the present day – mainly because, per her life plan, it’s time to be wed. Together, the two bring out the best in each other. This is a sweet and hot swoon worthy romance with two genuinely likable characters thrown together by fate. Their chemistry is combustible from the first. Mary Jane Wells returns as the narrator for Must Love Chainmail. She positively nails the performance. Her voice is crystal clear and to my American ears, she aces the multiple dialects (British, French, Welsh, American) required. Both her male and female voices sound realistic and she exudes the proper emotions. She consistently differentiates between the characters and delivers a polished production. I laughed, held my breath, gasped and melted to a puddle while listening to this audio. I can unequivocally state that my enjoyment of this book was enhanced by her performance. Must Love Chainmail works well as a standalone if that is your preference even though there is an interconnectiveness with the first book. That said, the first book is just as wonderful as this one. Must Love Breeches occurs in the Regency time period whereas Must Love Chainmail occurs in the Medieval. This is a vividly-written, well-plotted, fast-paced, adventurous tale that mesmerized me from the first to the last. There are twists and turns in the story that took me completely by surprise. I wanted to listen to it without stopping and didn’t want it to end. Months after finishing this audio, I still get the warm fuzzies when I think about it. The audio is nothing short of enthralling. I would listen to it again – it was that awesome. I can’t wait to start the third saga, Must Love Kilts, soon!!!!! My full review is posted at Reading Between The Wines Book Club. “Must Love Chainmail” by Angela Quarles was nominated and won a RITA in the Paranormal Category from the Romance Writers of America – meaning that romance writers have judged her book to represent excellence in romance writing. I read “Chainmail” first even though it’s book #2 in the “Must Love” series because it won a RITA and I was desperate for a writer to sweep me off my feet. I had put down a paranormal book the day before because I could not get into it. I hate it when I can’t finish a book. Sometimes I read through the slump and hope the story improves, but I made a pact with myself recently to just put the book down. Life’s too short to suffer a story you don’t love  first world problems, huh? I wrote that confession, so you’ll understand how “Must Love Chainmail” delivered all the feels and goods to me!!! Just like Katy, readers could identify to being in a relationship when you still have a gnawing doubt you can’t quite articulate. Keeping up appearances in a difficult or uncomfortable situation and hoping it ‘too shall pass’, but ending up sinking deeper and deeper into a quagmire of your own making. What I really admired about Ms. Quarles’ writing were the tiny details of unique (very unique) descriptions and character narratives. And what was really challenging was for some of the beginning of the story the hero (Robert) and heroine weren’t speaking the same language. BRILLIANT! After high school, I actually had an opportunity to travel to Aberystwyth, Wales. I remember overhearing some locals speaking Welsh and we asked them about their language and why don’t more people speak it. They educated us about Wales’ historic struggles with England, which Quarles’ writing captured. Her descriptions (not only) swept me back to Wales, but to another time when those tensions were being forged. I could not get over the amount of research she must have done for this story and the ability to weave those details seamlessly throughout the plot. And I appreciated the bibliography at the end… Katy’s reactions to being tossed into medieval Wales seemed real and authentic and it also made sense that her story would come after her friend, Isabelle (Book#1 – Must Love Breeches). Katy would know time-travel existed, because it happened to Isabelle and Katy could use that knowledge to react quicker (and hopefully not be seen as a witch). And even though our hero, Robert, was from medieval Wales, he was truly a man of honor and integrity. Ms. Quarles writes some wonderful heroes. I did read Book#1 after Book#2 and I can tell small nuanced differences that make the writing, characters, and plot more balanced from Book#2. If you’re looking for a story with action, romance, and historical depth, I would highly recommend this series.

This is book 2 in the Must Love Time Travel series. On a trip to Wales with her bridesmaids, Katy Tolson is suddenly whisked back in time to medieval Wales. For someone that is attached to her phone like Katy is, this is a rude awakening for her. She quickly figures out what is was that transported her back in time, but when a handsome knight rescues her from an upcoming battle her opportunity to retrieve it is lost. Sir Robert Beucol, a half-Norman and half-Welsh knight, is trying to get the attention of the King so he can get his lands back. By fighting the Welsh, he is showing his loyalty to the crown. He hasn't the time to be distracted by the comely woman he rescued, but he can't seem to stay away from her. Will Katy find her way home or will her attraction to the handsome knight make her forget her quest? I always love a good time travel and this was no exception. This is my second book by Quarles and I enjoyed it as much as the first. I really liked Robert. He was the type of man that I would consider to be a "Knight in Shining Armor". He rescued Katy a few times and was always the perfect gentleman. Overall, an enjoyable read! Thanks go out to Unsealed Room Press via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.
