There are only a few pivotal moments in our lives where events conspire to either make us better or expose all our weaknesses. When my new girlfriend was suddenly confronted with a life altering decision I found myself at war with what I had always believed.
MY AMPUTEE WIFE is a memoir about my experiences during the last couple of years as my girlfriend underwent an elective lower leg amputation. There are a number of inspirational books for amputees and about amputees, this isn't one of them. This is a book about the other people involved, the husband, the children, the family and friends.

This book is amazing! How many times do we hurt ourselves and say, "Cut it off!" There are so many aspects to an amputation that are not realized unless research is done. Timothy Weaver gives a lay person's account of a potentially devastating operation from a second hand perspective allowing the reader a chronological account of what the family of the amputee encounters. The book is well written and definitely a page turner explaining why nothing was accomplished in my home from the time I started this book until I finished. I will be checking out Mr. Weaver's other books as well!
My Amputee Wife is a memoir written by a caregiver it is from the heart about an overwhelming personal trial between two close people, the patient and the caregiver and their journey and struggles to overcome the obstacles. It shows true endurance when one makes a commitment to stay loyal to their partner in a rain storm of tragedy and displays grace even when the odds are stack against them. The author has a flair of spinning the words to almost catch your heart in your mouth but then adds a zany remark and the reader can take a breath of fresh air and continue reading on to discover the end is only the beginning. It has moments when the fight is too much but they adapt with their sense of humor and get through it. It is a story to be read if one needs encouragement to know at the end of personal sacrifice there is a light and a tunnel and life continues on.
