Chapter One

My Awakening Journal A Journey to Enlightenment

Everyday we live our lives to the fullest.

• We know that we are here on this earth to learn some of life's lessons.

• Whatever your expectations, aspirations and experiences are, living your life may be difficult, full of problems, fun or wonder filled.

• Today, we shift the world. This second is a journey to your destination.

• It's okay that we're going in different directions; we are simply covering lots of ground of experiences.

• We will all find our way back to one another, we may feel like we're all separated at times, but the inner truth knows that we are walking with one another in the same direction.

• This can be hard to fathom as we are all so different on this Earth, but together, we are one in our destinations.

• Our soul has a purpose and we are living it.

• What is our individual purpose?

• To answer this we must be quiet and let the revelations come not from our mouths.

• This is the time to let our Earth teachers take a break and go into silence themselves.

• Observe what is around you without your eyes to guide you.

• Within the silence is where we discover the sounds we miss; the water is rushing, the mountains are shifting, the trees are bending, the insects are now vocal.

• Our purpose is within this mystery of silence.

• It is now that we discover that our purpose is this simple journey forward. Whatever our situation is now, our purpose is this moment.

• Our wisdom is the simple being of this moment and we have much to learn from this second and the seconds that have passed.

• The moments of the future are not important, not as important as this moment of right now.

• It is important to understand that consciously, as we are discovering our journey, we will always be unconsciously conscious.

• This simply means that our conscious will always be guided by what we do not have "control" or "power" over.

• This journey that we walk is guided by those that walked this journey before us.

• In this silence, we discover that there is much in our journey that is woven together with the walks of all that share this space of Earth with us, and woven tightly with the journey's of those before us.

• To be conscious is to be aware of all aspects of our being and this is why we will always be unconsciously conscious.

• The unconsciousness of our being unfolds to our conscious; we will always have much to learn.

• This silence of the moment is part of our unconscious coming to the being of our conscious.

• As our journey is never completely individual, we are always connected with our communities, our families, the space of Earth in which we share, we will never be conscious of the all of the connections we have with everyone on this Earth.

• This simply unfolds as the moments pass.

• We are not always aware of the footprints we leave, and whose feet are walking within our footprints. But in time, we will discover this. Sometimes it takes generations for this to unfold.

• The more we are conscious of this moment, the unconscious is awakened.

• It is important to understand we simply can't know everything at once.

• Our journey is meant to unfold, and it is unfolded as the bigger picture of living is revealed.

• This is the spirit of learning. Our learning is not all that we learn from our parents, our schooling, our careers, or from the books that we indulge in.

• We must remember that our learning is from living, it's the simple sharing of space with those around us. And remember that this space we share is the Earth as a whole. Our movements, our actions, our moods, our beliefs, our values, our teachings and learning are connected and imprinted in the journey's of those we may not know; even those that live on the opposite sides of the Earth.

• The Earth is a shared environment with all that is living within its space.

• Our space within it may be small, in our physical eyes, but we are playing a great part in its systems of living and growth.

• We are apart of something so much greater than we can fathom in the consciousness of Earth teachings.

• We simply can't be conscious of all that is occurring.

• We are not meant to understand it all at once.

• This is why it's a journey.

• It's a journey of discovery.

• What a sad moment it will be when we lose our sense of discovery.

• A robot we will be – simply going through the movements only to be shut off when our purpose is accomplished.

• Humans are not meant to be so mechanical.

• This moment is what is the most important.

• It is this moment that leads us to the next.

• It is this moment that our life being can be altered, can be celebrated and also can be completed.

• It is important to remember that we are not above the natural cycle of dying.

• Our journey as a human on this Earth is limited.

• The moments are not forever.

• So what is our purpose?

• What is your purpose?

• Our purpose is simply this moment.

• Anything beyond it doesn't matter because that's not our destination to control it.

• That is the bigger picture and we're not the painter of it.

• Our art is this moment only.

• Stroke your brush assertively and be prepared to let it go when needed.

• Our destination and our purpose are to fulfill the greater destination that we may not understand at this moment.

• That is the gift of this moment, we are being guided to the greater understanding and all will be revealed when the moment is right.

• Anticipate this moment.

• Anything beyond this moment we can't be conscious of.

• We never know when our gifts of moments will be no longer in this reality.

• Understand that we'll always be consciously unconscious, and it's a beautiful mystery that is revealed to us each moment.

We hope that this guidebook will assist you to get from moment to moment knowing who you are and what gifts you possess on your journey.

"White Eagle" and "Speaks with Wings"

It has been stated that "we meet ourselves in the people who are around us!" These individuals, creatures, beings and animate objects will show up in our lives through surprising and unexpected meetings, when the time is right for us to learn what we need to learn, in order to move forward with our lives.

For many years I have intuitively known that when I seem to be stuck on an issue, or required information and knowledge, it will automatically come to me, provided that I am open and willing for the lesson to enter. One example of this is my encounter with April. I was taking an intense course in interpersonal skills in a city that I did not live in. I was alone, and didn't know anyone other than the other participants in the course I was taking. This course was a confrontational course that seemed to break all of the rules I had learned about being a loving, caring and concerned human being. It was perceived during this course that I required much confrontation in order to become congruent, or real. I felt persecuted, misunderstood, and utterly helpless as I received more and more information intended to break me down into what I perceived others wanted me to be. I needed support and understanding and through a fellow group member, April entered into my life. April and myself have maintained a friendship and have been co-workers over the years. I traveled a lot with April, presenting courses and we became a support system for one another. During this time she recommended courses for me to take and introduced me to many of my mentors, teachers, and earthly guides.

The first mentor that I met through April was Alan Stibbard. Alan taught a course called Neurontology or Psychological Self Defense and at the time I took his course I was working with many people in group situations and I wanted to confirm that the work I was doing was not harming anyone through suggestion.

Personally my health had been deteriorating because of self inflicted stress. I was worried about everyone and everything, I took life much too seriously, and I was caught in the trap of being overly responsible for everyone and everything but not responsible for me. I was diagnosed with an auto immune disorder and was told that I would never be well as this was an incurable disease. I wanted to be well physically, help others mentally and emotionally, so that they would find meaning in their own personal lives while I was healing my own life.

Through this connection with Alan I did become well. The disease went in to remission and I gained much knowledge on how to work with individuals more effectively and responsibly. The most valuable part of this lesson for me was learning that the healing of me was not done by Alan, he simply guided me to heal myself from within.

April moved North and I maintained contact with her regularly. She was working with a very gifted person name Phil Gatensby and it was through him that I was introduced to a program called Gathering Power. I had been questioning my own personal power and had asked Creator for some assistance to understand the difference between power and control. At times I felt that I needed to control it all, and if I was controlling it all, what was happening to me, my power and the power of the people I was working with? Phil's knowledge of his culture, spiritual beliefs and his ability to connect with the earth, and all who inhabit the earth Mentally, Physically, Emotionally and Spiritually provided me with a strong base to understand what being a Human Being is all about. I have developed my own power by understanding the teachings of these two gifted mentors even though their concepts and beliefs come from very different perspectives. It is from the base of their teaching that I was able to grasp my understandings and integrate into my life the following definition:

A Human being is who you are from the inside of you. It is you being you through your Mental, Physical, Emotional and Spiritual nature. You need to be connected and balanced with Mother Earth and come from the inside of you through what some refer to as the heart (the center of your being.)

The newest in the Connection of Human Beings is Mat Walker who is the Graphic Artist and Designer of the cover of our Book. Mat is an energy-healer and earth-based ceremonialist with a personal eclectic synthesis of practices that blend styles from around the globe ranging from New Age to Eastern Philosophy to indigenous shamanistic traditions. As an eternal seeker of the mysteries and truth he is always spiraling upward in growth and learning and broadening and re-defining his beliefs. A Pisces to the core of his being. He's been into spirituality and metaphysics for as long as he can remember. Mat enjoys "channeling" spiritual creativity into his artwork to serve the larger spiritual community. His work can be seen on

Everything you perceive creates what you believe.

Everything you believe creates what you receive.

Everything you receive creates what you experience in this moment!

This moment continues on to be all that is you in this lifetime.

When you change your perception, your beliefs change, by changing your beliefs, your choices change, and your experiences change to create another precious moment in your life!

An affirmation for me on my journey:

I am free to be me, because my perception of me is real. I believe in me, and I am free to experience me every moment of my life just being me!

I receive all of the lessons I provide for myself through my perceptions, beliefs and experience!

If I wish to change my experience I only need to change my perception, which in turn will change my belief, which in turn will change what I wish to receive, which in turn will change my experience in life.

I create it all!

I am me, free and O.K.

What grounds you? And what the heck does grounding mean?

I remember a day when grounding was the worst thing that could happen at the time. Of course I was a young child then and it usually meant I was not allowed to participate in something or had to stay in my room. So it meant boredom! But life goes a bit ass backwards sometimes, because now I look to be grounded. Except it is me that grounds myself and not someone imposing it on me.

It's a feeling of being whole and appreciating where I am at. I find that when I am not grounded, I am always seeking something and striving for more, more and more. Wanting more is not a bad thing, I suppose, but it's also letting me know the present isn't good enough.

So finding grounding for me, I can find it difficult as a mom right now. Because I'm always looking for more but not just for myself but for my family. Being a mom means I have to "sacrifice" parts of my being that I'm not always willing to give up sometimes. And to be honest, I don't see it so much as sacrifice because my family is not here for me. We are here together So, right now, it's a lack of a better word.

But if I don't encourage parts of myself to grow – like writing – I get so lost and I seek to fill that void. So grounding to me is being able to write. It's also being able to share honestly with who I am. I say that because I work in a corporate world. Nobody is really caring about what is going on with my feelings or what beliefs I carry. It's to get the job done, efficiently and have it done the day before it started.

And it's an interesting experience, work, but it sure plays with me. So I have found myself ungrounded these days because I haven't been able to embrace those needs of who I am. And depression set in. And for those that have known me for sometime, I am not the best at keeping in touch on the best of days. So include depression into the mix, well, I've been a turtle hiding in my shell.

But the truth is, I've just been struggling with balance of my responsibilities and keeping in touch with myself. People and nature, along with writing – that's my grounding. And I hope to write more, now that I have no plastic in my wallet and I put my energy into what I can create instead of what I can buy. How about that? I think I just discovered my spending habits.... hmmmm.

So that's my thoughts on grounding. What do you think?

Meditation is the emptying or concentration of the mind through contemplation or relaxation.

Meditation is a personal celebration of the wonder of the universe – and the cultivation of our capacities for awe and amazement at "all that is." It involves the unity of self and all beings, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually in the humble recognition of oneself as one small but valuable part of the total. It is the whole involvement of you, being captivated and excited by the marvel of it all.

To see meditation this way is to recognize other human beings, the earth and the entire universe as sacred and valued.

It means that every single person, entity, and animate object on the planet is to be treated as valuable, deserving of love, respected, and honored as being unique.

The souls journey begins by first loving, respecting and honoring ourselves as the unique being we are, knowing that we are not perfect, thus allowing ourselves to grow and change.

Meditation is a unique process for every unique human being. In order to honor your own personal journey through life you may want to use the following two suggestions to begin your journey to experience the wisdom and wonder of you. Centering and progressive relaxation can guide you to the peace, love and beauty of the silent mind which is unique to you.
