When Dez Hart met the gorgeous billionaire Giovanni Pryce, he offered her a job as his personal assistant and to pay for her father's cancer treatments. It was more than she could expect from anyone, let alone a complete stranger. But the innocent Dez isn't prepared for a job that will consume her or the smoldering hunger that develops between her and her new boss.
There are rules for working for Mr. Pryce. Don't talk about his family. Don't question him about his past. Don't interrupt him when he's playing his violin, under any circumstances. Yet Dez aches to break through the walls he's built around his heart, to learn his secrets, to free him from his torment and to explore the dark desires that they both share.
“Holy crap,” I breathed under my breath.
I crossed the room, feeling like a rat led by the Pied Piper. My eyes were glued to the wall of instruments, trying to drink in every one. Obviously, this room belonged to Mr. Pryce, but who did he share it with? Who was he tying up and whipping down here? I felt a brief stab of jealousy at that thought. It was stupid, because he was my boss, but I didn’t much care for the idea of him having other women down here.
My fingers closed around the handle of a leather paddle and I lifted it off the hooks holding it to the wall. I turned it over in my hands slowly, imagining what it might feel like to have it on my skin. Instead of horror or disgust, I felt the tingle of desire. The idea of being so completely in someone’s control, so entirely the focus of his attention and lust, awoke all sorts of perverse appetites I’d never entertained before.
I experimentally slapped the leather paddle against the palm of one hand to feel its sting. The sound was louder than I expected and my hand felt numb for a brief moment before pins and needles of pain made themselves known, then faded.
“What are you doing?”
I dropped the paddle and spun around to find Gio directly behind me. He had to have the feet of a cat to cross the room so silently. His eyes were narrowed and I couldn’t tell if I was seeing anger or not in them.
“I-I’m sorry,” I stammered. “I hadn’t gone into the basement when Gwen showed me the house and I thought I’d glance down here.”
He caught my wrist and turned my hand over to look at my pink palm. “That doesn’t require hitting yourself.”
“I was curious.”
He chuckled and dropped my wrist, but didn’t back away from me. I could feel the heat of him radiating into my skin. My wrist felt burned where he had gripped it. “Clearly,” he said dryly.
I took a deep breath, which was a mistake with him so close. There was his aftershave and some subtle cologne he wore, but under that was just the basic, male scent of him. That natural male musk combined with his nearness was like being hit with a wave of lust and I blushed, thinking about what an idiot I was making of myself.
“I’m sorry,” I said again. “I should have never come down here.”
Mr. Pryce gave a small nod of his head, inclining it slightly just once. “That’s right.”

I was worried going into this story. A "mysterious" billionaire and a "feisty" young woman in a BDSM relationship? That was (fifty) shades of something I've heard plenty about. But, I hadn't taken into account the tallent of Ms. Bell. With imagery that brings to mind a young Tony Stark (as played by Robert Downey, Jr), Bell makes Giovanni infinitely likable--not to mention lustable--as Dez learns the ins and outs of working (and falling) for her eccentric new employer. Bell's dialogue is pitch perfect, and her characters have me intrigued. Also, this woman delivers the heat, both in and out of the characters' bedrooms.
