3.5 First, I'm just going to warn everyone that my thoughts are everywhere in this review. Like I've said before in my reviews: I'm an author, not a reviewer. Now . . . on to the review! This book is about vampires. No, no. Not the sparkling kind. And no, not the vicious kind. It's yet another different, yet fascinating spin on them, though. This I can promise. The rest . . . I have so many feelings about this book. It's hard for me to put into words exactly how I feel, actually. I loved it. I was annoyed. I hated it. I loved it . . . You see what I mean? The thing is, I would hate to sit here and literally list all the things I didn't like about it and all the things I did. That isn't much of a review, so I'm going to try to get through this without. Hocking is a very talented storyteller and had my attention the whole book. As a matter of fact, I didn't put it down once I had the chance to sit down and read it. And that, for how crazy my life is, equals a massive amount of talent (and possibly an award). There were definitely some huge grammatical (though mostly punctuation) errors, and a few missing words here or there, but that is something I see in any published novel, no matter the publisher. Regardless, it is actually the errors that made me rate this story a 3.5, though I put it as 4 stars on goodreads because I enjoyed the actual story so much and that counts for more than something as petty and silly as punctuation. Alice (the main character) is one of those characters that loves passionately and fully. It's one thing she just doesn't half-ass; it's something that I admire in people in real life and in novels. And as do people in real life, she also annoyed me sometimes and became endearing other times. Jack, the other main character, was absolutely delightful. He's one of those people you just want to be around because they are happy all the time. Instead of people all "I'm so sorry you're in a bad mood" and then pats your head, he's the type of person who pulls you from your bad mood and brings a grin to your face. There isn't anything more lovable than that! All the other characters are also wonderful (except Peter and Jane, which I'll just not talk about so you can read it and find out yourself why). I'm not one to talk much about the happenings in a book because I want readers to experience it themselves, I just like to talk about how fantastic (or not) said book is. The most unique thing about this story? The love triangle is played sooo differently--I absolutely loved how it was written. Downside? I hated where it ended. It was abrupt. Luckily, I've already purchased every single one of her novels from Amazon. I think supporting indie authors is important, so I didn't even wait to read the first one before I did it. :D Honestly, I'm glad I did because I know I'll be reading them all. Now, the biggest question: would I recommend this book to my fantasy-loving friends? Absolutely. I think they'll all love it, as long as they bypass the punctuation. (Sorry Amanda . . .) :D Now go to Amazon right now and purchase her novels. They're cheap, so you won't be breaking your bank to do it. Wow, was that long-winded or what? :D

The story starts out just a bit slow (would have been nice if the main character had figured things out a little bit faster, though I still enjoyed the process of getting to know the characters), but then the story takes off and really sucks you in (no pun intended LOL)! I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series.

Since I'm a fan of all things that fall under the urban fantasy/paranormal romance, Amazon had Amanda Hocking's "My Blood Approves" series as a recommendation for me. I bought all three books that have been released after glancing at the story synopsis and have not been disappointed one bit. If you're looking for a great read in this genre, make sure you get your hands on this exciting new Series.

I came across this book cause it was a 99 cent nook book. I read a lot of vampire series so I thought I would give it a try. My main complain with other book series is that they are too short, I always wanna know what happens next. But with the books in this series being around 500 to 800 pages long, I was VERY pleased. I read all four books in less than a week because it was too good to put down! Just finished #4 and don't know what I'm gonna do til #5 comes out next YEAR!!!

if you want to read about vampires paying bills and buying electronics then this book is for you. If you want suspense, romance, and action then save your money. I'll give you just a couple examples (no spoilers), in the second book there are three pages that just talk about Ezra, Peter, and Milo installing a new flat screen t.v. and how good the picture is. In the fourth book there are six pages of Ezra looking for title documents to cars so he can transfer them into Alice and Milo's names, and no, it is not leading up to anything, it is literally just that. There in only ONE action scene which is in the third book and it's only about ten pages long, the rest is so dull. In the first book you don't even find out they are vampires until after page 100, the whole book is just Alice and Jack going for walks and to concerts. These books are painfully boring and you stick with them waiting for some big hot love scene or cool action but there is NONE!! my advice is to stick with Twilight. I will say however that Amanda Hocking's Trylle series is fantastic and it is also a "supernatural romance" series.

It was a really good plot and i admit i couldnt put the book down. But after reading the first one i dont know if i could put myself through reading terrible writing again. The grammer was awful. So many mispelled/missing words. Also all the mentions of band/brand names. It bothered me, almost like author was payed to advertise.

I got this book after reading the author's Trylle series. It was amazing how the characters grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I have no idea why it is being sold for so cheap, but it is a STEAL at 99 cents.

This series really is terrible, from the characters, to the pacing and the plot this is a boring and thoughtless series of books that I'm irritated about wasting time reading.  I read all the books, waiting for something to happen, but there really wasn't any substance in the entire series.  The books just ambled on without any real point, it was just a bunch of vampires sitting around the house watching movies, going to clubs, driving fancy cars and buying stuff.  Occasionally there's some action, but there's no build up to it and its over really quickly without much consequence to the overall story.  I have no idea how anybody could give this series 5 stars, there's no real story and no chemistry between any of the characters.  The dialogue never feels natural, its always forced and awkward sounding.  Even the editing in the eBook is appalling, there are so many grammatical and formatting errors that it was completely distracting, I can't count the number of times there were glaringly simple errors repeated throughout the series (you're used when it should have been your).  Don't waste your time on this series!

My Blood Approves is one of my favorite series. It has adventure, romance, and will keep you hanging on to every eord the characters say. Sorry for the Twilight saga fans, but MBA is so much better. Throughout the the MBA series, the books just kept on getting better and better. Every page i turned just kept on pulling me under MBA's spell, and I could only get out when I finished the book. What I didn't know about this book was that when I did finish, I would keep on flipping through the book. Great read and everyone would enjoy this!!!!!!

I really liked this book. At first I thought it would end up like twilight. After a while I absolutely fell in love with it. I loved every character (almost). I didn't really like Jane. I can't wait for the next book.

I am a huge twilight fan, therefore I am very skeptical about reading other vampire stories for the fact that they either have the same story line or they ruin the whole vampire loving humans feeling. But when I started reading this book, I could not put it down.. I finished all four books within thw weekend. Amanda Locking was amazing with details and knew exactly what to say next to keep me interested. I still have more loyalty to twilight but this series was just as amazing. A MUST READ!

Total Awesome read. Alice is so wanting to be w/Jack but as fate would have it she must be w/Peter, which she wants but doesn't. Thus leaving the situation to where she can not be w/either one. Kind of like leaves you making a choice for Bella. The vampire Edward or the werewolf Jacob. Well same here.....the story gets you to where you choose either Jack or Peter. I couldn't put the book down, but when I had to for whatever reason, I couldn't wait toget back to it!

I'm always hesitant to read books about vampires and other 'totally non-realistic' creatures because for one, i cant relate, and two its so far fetched! But i took the recommendation and bought Book #1. I am not exagerting when i say i would lay awake at night reading under the covers (so i wouldnt disturb my sleeping husband) and i finished the entire series in less than 2 weeks. And no i didnt just sit on my couch for 2 weeks, but every spare chance i got i was reading! I HIGHLY recommend My Blood Approves. And when you finish this series, read the Trylle Trilogy, if you havent yet!! Amanda Hocking writes about love-triangles in such a way that you are never really sure who will end up with whom until the very end!
