My Christmas Fiancé by Serenity Woods

A boss/secretary, 'marriage of convenience', Cinderella romance

It's not easy to reinvent yourself, but my thirteen-year-old son and I are ready for a new start. Old Maggie was a magnet for disaster, but New Meg is going to be elegant, sophisticated... and blonde. I've landed a dream job at the other end of New Zealand as PA to three rich directors who spoil me rotten, I've found a beautiful new apartment, and I feel reborn.

Then I write an email to a friend describing in vivid detail what I want to do to the sexiest of the directors-involving melted chocolate and/or whipped cream-and mistakenly send it to All Staff. It turns out that New Meg is pretty much just Old Maggie with different packaging. Some things never change.

I've wanted Meg since she first walked into my office with her soft lips and sexy curves, but she wears another man's ring, so I've steered well clear... until now. My mind's been occupied anyway since I broke up with my ex, Natalie. She's desperate to have me back and won't take no for an answer-so I've come up with a brilliant plan, to hire a fake fiancée for Christmas to prove to her that we're done.

After sending her hot-as-hell email, Meg confesses the truth about her past, and it gives me an idea. She can pretend to be my fiancée, and I can protect her from the guy she's running from. Sounds like the perfect plan, right? Her teenage son's no problem because we get on great. Sharing her room? That's more of a challenge, but I've always had excellent self-control.

Yeah, I know. I keep forgetting about the melted chocolate. What an idiot.

At 244 pages, this is not a cliffhanger. The author took time to fill out the characters involved in the story. I enjoyed the story and recommend it!!!!

I throughly enjoyed the entire story of Stratton, Meg and her son Oscar. Wonderfully honest and well written story line. Loved the honest and open conversations between all the characters. Highly recommend this novel based in New Zealand. Linda-Rose

I enjoyed spending time with Meg, Stratton, and Oscar. They should make a great family as they go through life. I won't be surprised if they change their minds and add to their family through adoption or natural childbirth. That's an idea for another story. Until then, I'm looking forward to Rich's story. Another New Zealand Christmas romance with passion and humor to keep you interested. A few editing errors are mildly annoying

Review First book in a new series and what a fantastic start !! This book is funnier than previous books I have read by this author and I loved it. The banter between the characters was great and Im looking forward to more in the series. Meg is Stratton's PA and he has always had feelings for her but she wears a wedding ring and as she works for him so that makes her off limits. What he doesn't know is the feelings are mutual and the wedding ring is not real she uses it to protect her and her son after running from a abusive relationship. When Stratton decides he needs a fake fiancé to get his ex off his back he also decides this will work for Meg as well, what neither bargained for was the love and feelings that would follow. The story is told in both POV and it really works. This author has a nack of making you love her characters that feel so much like real people going through real life issues. You also get snippets of characters from previous books and it's great to see what they are up too. I loved it

My Christmas Fiancé is the first book in Serenity Woods’ new Love Comes Later series. After reading her Four Seasons Series, I thought that I would know what to expect but I have to admit that I was wrong, but in a good way. As if the previous series wasn’t hot enough, this one is hotter. Plus, it’s told from the point of view of the hero and the heroine. More importantly, it’s actually a lot of fun. Stratton Parker is the successful co-owner of a company that makes video games and controllers for the physically and visually impaired. Meg Brown has been his personal assistant for the past five months. It’s been seven months since Stratton ended his five year relationship with Natalie because she was pressuring him to have children although he told her from the beginning that kids were not an option because he did not want to pass on a gene that may render his children blind just like his sister Teddi. That same gene gave Stratton two different color eyes just like David Bowie. It’s no secret that Stratton and Natalie spent a considerable amount of time between the sheets but that’s the only place where they were really compatible. On the other hand Stratton and Meg share a mutual attraction but Meg is married with a thirteen-year-old son. That doesn’t stop Stratton from making naughty remarks though. When it becomes clear that Natalie isn’t going to move on from Stratton, he decides that he needs to hire someone to be his fake fianceé for Christmas so that Natalie gets the message that it’s truly over. With Meg in charge of hiring this fake fianceé, Stratton soon finds that unless he wants to hire a hooker, the position won’t be so easy to fill. Eventually, circumstances regarding Meg’s marriage and a sexy email that inadvertently gets sent to the whole office, provide an opportunity for Meg to take on the task of fake fianceé. As expected, that situation forces Stratton and Meg to explore their true feelings about each other, marriage, and family. Their relationship is too hot for words. They do things between the sheets that burn up the pages. In addition, they find that they are really good for each other. Of course, a relationship borne out of a lie comes with other complications. I really enjoyed My Christmas Fiancé. I expected it to be predictable but it wasn’t. It was very honest and filled with passion just like their relationship. Serenity Woods has the makings of another great series that I look forward to reading. **Received a copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed the book.**

Sweet story. Toward the end there's less story and more sex. But the end is sweet and was still an good story.

Really wasn't worth my time. I found myself getting bored with the book but since it was only 200 something pages, I read it all in one setting. I did however like the relationship between Oscar and Stratton. There wasn't really a climax and it didn't really give me that nail biting experience I hope to get with all books I read.

Some steamy scenes. His ex wont leave him alone; her ex caused her to run and start over with a new identity. When an embarassing email accidently gets sent company wide and her ex suddenly shows up; Stratton decides the perfect solution is a fake engagement. Good story but its also obvious from pg 1 that both characters are already in lust/half in love with each other.

Another captivating read by Serenity Woods. Stratton and Meg are instantly attracted but both have their secrets. The way they come up with the secret fiance and develop a strong relationship is so inspiring. They help each other out with their problems and become a stronger family together. In Being open and honest with each other they make the "fake" engagement real. It kept me reading all the way to the end. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Serenity Woods has done it again! Another great book to start a series. I love the witty, sometimes snarky, dialogue between Stratton and Meg. Actually, there is witty, snarky dialogue between all the characters and I really enjoyed it. The fact Stratton and Meg become friends first, lovers second is a big plus to me. Friendship lays the foundation for an HEA to last. I really loved the relationship between Meg and Oscar. It was very realistic and natural. As was the relationship between Stratton and Oscar. Teddi was a breath of fresh air. She was Teddi first and foremost, and disabled was a small part of who she was. Too often, those with disabilities are portrayed as disabled above all else. As someone who lives with a disability, I loved the way she was presented. I don't know if there is a company like Katoa but I truly hope there is. My only problem with the story was Bruce. Everything concerning him was just left hanging. There was no closure. That is unusual for a book by Serenity Woods. If you're looking for a well-written, thoroughly enjoyable romance, look no further. My Christmas Fiance will leave you waiting impatiently for My New Year Fling, which is Rich's story. It is scheduled to be released in a month or so and I am thrilled I won't have to wait long to read it.

Eager to read this new series by Serenity Woods I was thankful to receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Katoa, a flourishing tech company, is making big money and has an emphasis on creating devices for the visually impaired. One of the owners is blind and this has created impetus for their focus. The story mentions medical issues such as retinoblastoma, heterochromia and pulmonary embolism - all three have impacted people in the story. In this, the first book of the series, we meet Stratton Parker and Meg Brown. Meg has a 13 year old son, has been working for Katoa as a PA for 4 months and has a crush on Stratton – and he has one on her. One fateful day an e-mail is sent out that changes their status and begins the journey to a potentially HEA ending. There are two exes to deal with, bonding to be done between Oscar (the son) and Strat, warm suggestive chats in the evening, a gala to attend and some getting to know one another to be done before their instant attraction – delayed four months – can come to fruition. Stratton was a wonderful book boyfriend. Meg was a woman with the strength to make a move that needed to be made. The two of them together were interesting enough to make me smile and care about them and their story made for a wonderful day of reading. I look forward to continuing the series with book two about Rich and book three about Teddi – the other co-owners of Katoa – hopefully they will be released soon. 4.5 Stars

4.5* I was hooked from the very first page. I liked the working relationship between the H and H and how the sexual tension grew, once they admitted they were attracted to each other. Each chapter is told from the others POV and this really worked well in moving the story along. This is only the 2nd book I have read told from a dual perspective and it was far superior in that it didn't feel jarring when you switched to the other POV. It was also good to have a story where both individuals are over 30. I found their back stories interesting and I loved Meg's 13 year old son and his relationship with her. In addition I was introduced to the musician John Mayer's music. Note: Strong language. I received a free copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review.
