Awesome true account of one man's devotion to a very spectial German Shepherd named Tulip. The book was really funny and very entertaining, however, I wished for a few more antics. I was absolutely appalled by the author's reaction to the new puppies, especially as he bred Tulip on purpose! Tulip's attitude and sass remind me of my own departed and darling German Shepherd and I laughed out loud many times during this touching book. Tulip's fierce protectiveness and subtle neroses were very familiar to me. The author's attiude toward humans who did not approve of Tulip made me cheer with joy; of course his German Shepherd's comfort and happiness comes above all things else!

This is a story about a love affair between a man and someone he never thought he could love - a dog with the same sort of eccentricities we all have, some good and some not so, but with a soul and a will humans would do well to emulate. You don't have to be a dog lover to love this book; you only have to love beautiful prose and be willing to accept dogs as worthy subjects of a wonderful book.

This book is really funny. The guy who wrote it is very obvious about his noble status in life, which makes it all the funnier. It took me a litle while to get into just because the style in which it is written is a little different from the books I usually read. A great book though.

This book made me laugh and tugged on my sentiments. Especially tuned to the German Shepherd lover, it also is a good read for any dog lover. Reading this account made me very happy that my dog is spayed, though!
